Emotionally drained,
Mentally battered;
My defenses are gone,
Shredded and tattered.
I could sleep for a year,
But tomorrow will still come;
I don't want to go on,
This battle is over, you have won.
Light turns into darkness,
Laughter into silence;
This battle took my soul,
Turned my world into sadness.
A lifetime of hurt,
Healed only by time;
Is way too much,
For this weakened heart and mind.
Time is my enemy,
Patience my evil;
Inside my life,
It begins to needle.
A needle of pain,
That weaves its way through;
I follow its thread,
And am led back to you.
Not surprising,
Considering how much I've given;
That this battle was yours,
Totally won from the beginning.
I gave my heart,
My soul, everything I knew;
You turned them away,
Pushed them far from you.
Your rejection was felt,
Complete and true;
How much I have never,
Ever been a part of you.
A delusion, a fantasy,
Call it what you will;
I'm going to sleep forever,
Forever until....
