Through the darkness I search
For the thing I yearn the most
I have been searching for years upon end
And have looked from coast to coast
Thrice mine eyes have deceived me
And have led to the breaking of my heart
But still I search, regardless of the pain
No matter how hard I try, from this journey I cannot part
The atmosphere changes suddenly
I know I’ve felt this somewhere before
The air in my lungs escapes with a quick breath
I feel like I might hit the floor
My knees knock and sweat drips from my fingertips
As the ideal feelings of love infiltrate me
It lifts me up and fills my heart with joy
With a bright smile I shout, “Never set me free!”
My heart has mended
Have I finally found true love?
But alas, I have spoken too soon.
Now I watch the disappearing skies above
Deeper and deeper into the darkness I fall
And I realize, again I have been deceived
My heart has been ripped out of my chest
Yet again, a broken heart is all I’ve achieved
I am mentally violated
The images of love, flashing quickly through my head
I fight back the tears welling up in my eyes
Because again, love has left me for dead.
