Revelation
You sooth our angry voices with words of peace, love, and equality
But underneath them lay pain, lies, and fear
Everybody says how they’re so glad to meet you
But when the bombs start falling we all know this is clear:
The truth rises above all the restraints you put upon it
And masks can only last for so long
You tell everyone that you have all the answers
But in the end, they’re all wrong
The motives have been masked for so long it isn’t clear anymore
It seems to be a repeat of the past
You’ve betrayed us for one time too many once again
The stains of your actions, they will last
It was believed that it was for the betterment of the people
But that was before it went to Hell
Yet the boys back home still pat you on the back
And say “hey boy, you did so well”
All that is lost can be found again
And all that is not said is written down
Strangers become familiar and the line begins to blur
When the world comes crashing down
Now that it’s over and everyone has gone home
The dust settles on our collage of devastation
Blood stains on the walls and dead children in the streets
God bless this land of consecration
You sooth our angry voices with words of peace, love, and equality
But underneath them lay pain, lies, and fear
