I originally posted this to a guild I belong to, but I thought I'd repost here for others to see since I thought it was rather amusing! Add your own if you'd like!
The paranoid conspiracy theorist This breed obviously has NOTHING better to do all day than pick apart every perceived wrongdoing on Gaia. Then they go on to try and make themselves sound all hoity toity with armchair legalese when in reality they know VERY little about what goes on behind the scenes and will NEVER accept any explanation given to them. These same folks also like to use the same old tired a** CATCH PHRASES written in caps over and over in their monotonous threads... because caps obviously make your point more valid! They also try to martyr-ize others on perceived wrongdoing by THE MAN and often inject their own personal conspiracy theories onto other people's situations even if it's completely unrelated.
The enthusiastic newb This breed can best be summarized by the following phrase, "OMG!!11 I LUV GAIA!!!!!!1 AMIRITE???!!//" They typically post very general, generic, yet positive feedback about Gaia. They are usually newer members and are just wanting to share their new found love for Gaia with the world! Their threads are generally filled with an abundance of happy.
The "nothing will EVER be good enough" sour puss This breed just flat out hates everything on Gaia and is NEVER pleased by anything. They can usually be seen complaining to high heaven over every little thing that happens on the site.... even if it's something good. New features? They all suck and are useless. New items? They don't look right, too many positions, not enough positions, not what *I* wanted. New event? Waste of developer time.... and so on. This breed also has a famous catch phrase they like to tout when their VERY sensitive dander gets roughed up, "I'mma boycott me sum Gaia! scream " Yet they can always be seen wearing the newest items and often still participate as usual on the site no matter what they cry. To them, the Admins and developers are CLEARLY out to ruin everyone's time and are JUST here for the money and the sick joy of making a bunch of people mad about pixels.
The "you WILL agree with me, or else!" combatant This breed is WELL known for their overt fondness of the ignore list feature... as in, "if I don't like what you have to say, I'm gonna ignore list you! lol" This breed is impossible to talk to as their view is so narrow you'd have to forcibly wedge it open with several crowbars. But they don't even give you the chance to wedge it open before they slip their trigger happy finger onto the ignore list button and ban your a** from their thread for all eternity. What they can't see you post, won't hurt them! This breed is usually very aggressive and combative and will take offense at the slightest little disagreement. However, they LOVE a good a**-kisser.
The rabid Gaia defender This breed thoroughly believes Gaia never does any wrong and NEVER makes mistakes. Saying anything negative about Gaia at all, even if it's valid, is a form of supreme blasphemy to this breed. And they will let you know it by saying such things as, "If you don't like it, then leave," or the ever-popular, "STFU! GTFO!" They refuse to listen to anything that decries their beloved site in all its perfection. They have a LOT in common with the "you WILL agree with me, or else!" combatant in that they too are very narrow minded and largely unwilling to relent or even listen to someone else's take on the matter.
The wall of texter This breed does their homework. When they come into SF to make a point, they make the hell out of it! They painstakingly put together a veritable novel of ideas, suggestions, feedback, and/or observations with links to references, examples, quotes, and other useful informative tidbits. They have a LOT to say and want to say it all. This breed usually has good input and feedback, but unfortunately, their labors of love are sometimes met with "tl;dr". So sadly enough their impressive points of view sometimes go unheeded and unread because of the sheer size of their posts. However, this breed also has a bit of a comrade breed in SF who will usually read what they have to say and respond accordingly.....
The regular This breed calls SF their home and love to participate in all the interesting threads they see. They usually know the forum rules inside and out and keep helpful links handy to dispense. They tend to have some sort of opinion on nearly every subject and are always willing to stick around for the long discussion. They report things regularly to forum staff and keep up with the newest developments. Some other breeds mentioned here may be at odds with the regular though, so the regular isn't always on everyone's buddy list. But love 'em or hate 'em, they're here to stay!
The Crusader This breed can usually be caught in the act of steadfastly campaigning their cause. When they get a notion to take action, they do so with great gusto for their cause is MOST righteous! They can be found in their multiple long running threads either in heated debate or legal bumping. This breed is in it to win and won't back down no matter what! This breed often overlaps with the wall of texter.
The mule This breed is typically one of the other breeds in disguise. They are often times Gaians of some sort of status or popularity, but hop onto mule accounts at times to avoid that association. They believe that people may take their post more seriously without whatever connotations may come with using their regular account to post. This breed is very mysterious by nature as most mule users prefer to keep their real identities a secret.
The blind "yes man" This breed is often seen hopping from thread to thread usually only posting something along these lines, "I like it!" or "I agree!" They never add any further reasonings behind their agreement and never specify what they agree with (which is especially painful in topics that cover more than one subject). Like "the ignorant" these users are largely a mystery with the exception that we know they agree!
The hardcore to the MAX!!!11! poster This breed is known to become really defensive really quick. They are eerily similar to the "you WILL agree with me. or else! combatant," but differ in the fact that they will likely argue with you rather than jumping on the ignore list. They seem to thrive on mouthing off to anyone who even slightly disagrees with their point of view or feedback. They are usually very arrogant and like to seem super tough on teh intarwebz. And while they can often put up a somewhat decent debate, they often regress to flaming when the tides turn in their opponent's favor.
The nitpicker This breed almost always has at least one positive thing to say about a recent event, item, or feature... but not far behind the niceness is the inevitable, "but it'd be better if....." They tend to mean well, but often sling in a barrage of dolled up complaints to pick apart any and everything they don't happen to like or agree with. Do they like the new item? Yeh, but it'd be better if it had 'x', 'y', and 'z' added to it. Do they like the new feature? Yes, but only if it were fancier and if they took that thing out first! So be wary of being lulled into a false sense of happy when entering a nitpicker's thread, for you shall soon see the mountain of nitpicks waiting to assault your eyes.
The gimmick user This breed likes to stand out above all the rest. Be it by a striking text format, garish post embellishments, or some manner of "character" they like to play, these SFers want YOU to notice THEM. They tend to be ubiquitous as well hopping from one interesting thread to the next; they want their opinions to be seen! And though they do use a special gimmick to garner attention, they do often give valid feedback or suggestions. They put time into their posts and it shows in one way or another. The gimmick user can range from unique and charming to down right annoying and head ache inducing.
The following breeds in quotes were written by other Gaians, not by me:
Quote: Administrators and DevelopersThese are an SFer's dream come true. An administrator reply makes one's thread instantly popular, proving that one's idea is actually taken into consideration. While they don't actually create threads, they are generally the most respected members of SF.
Quote: The underdog This person seems to wait until a mountain of positive feedback has been posted about a particular event/item/feature, and proceeds to make a big loud ordeal about posting their NEGATIVE feedback... or vice versa (making a huge issue of posting positive feedback for something everyone else hates). they seem to relish holding the most unpopular opinion, possibly even holding it just to be contrary and different from everyone else.
Quote: Lurker RegThose people that know everything that's going on and around Site Feedback, but do not post often. They either (a) have nothing to add or (b) do not want to revive threads. They often have favorite posters that they're likely to follow, and are definitely known to post in those threads. Though posting is not common for them, whenever they do post it is important to read because it is always interesting and important.
Quote: The WTFUXThis breed consists of those that come in and speak complete and utter bullshit and/or nonsense and still somehow manage to stir the masses and get their pages to at least the 30's by only posting once as their initial post. This breed typically follows the once-in-awhile and the crusader breeds since they virtually only show up when something needs to be bitched about and because they're "OMG MY CAUSE IS ALMIGHTY" but they deserve their own class because they're even worse than the once-in-awhiles.
Quote: The Junior A user who stumbles into Site Feedback ordinarily for the purpose of making a thread on something. Through the course of that thread's life they wander in and out of other user's threads, giving moderately credible feedback. :3 They are the Regulars of the next generation, if they stick around. Pretty much all of us were like that at one point or another.
Quote: The once and a whileUsually a GD spawn, though one with a mind, and good sense of Gaian life. This person comes to the Site Feedback every once and a blue moon, and while providing valid and appropriate feedback, they also add a streak of humor to it.
Quote: Captain Post CountOnly comes to SF to increase their post count. Replies generally consist of, "I agree," "I disagree," or "tl;dr lol." Emoticon spam optional. Some are known to start their own threads with the most generic suggestions possible, such as "More items plz" or "I think Gaia should improve," or "My brain is made of dryer lint."
Quote: The IgnorantThese people have a tendency to seek out the wall of texters. In all most all situations, they simply respond with "I don't know". These users are a mystery, as we cannot be sure of whether they just can't read, or are incredibly stupid.
