Again and again I twisted the silver chain though my fingers. And that's when it came to me, if it could create enough mass for this; why not enough to create charms for the twins? I moved quickly, if I didn't, I'd come to my senses, and never try it.
Don't ask me how I did it, because I am still not sure. It actually took more than the night; and forced me to leave the charm at home for a day; which made me feel distinctly uncomfortable, with both the solstice and the new moon approaching. But if it worked, it was worth it, and it did work. The shimmering pile had grown- it was not actually quite three times it's original size, it was visibly bigger.
“What sort of magic are you doing?” Suki asked, coming up behind me, as I went to pick it up out of it's circle.
“Yes what?” Saki wanted to know. I turned and looked, at them, smiling, and ran the chains- three of them now, across my hand.
“What happened to your key?” they chorused. I looked at the chains, and saw that there was a key on the end of each of them.
“It's our key now.” I could tell which one was the original, but I don't think that most people could, and I separated it out, putting it back into it's accustomed pocket, then offered one to each of them, a chain and key dangling from each hand. “We're family.” I smiled again. “This may be all of the protection I can give you.” They took them, and hung them around their necks. Then we wrapped our arms around each other, and just stood like that.
