For our sins hath He died.
Weep, oh Israel; cry for your Saviour; weep for your sins.
The hands which you pierce, He has given you.
The feet which you pierce, He has given you.
The side which you pierce, He has given you.
Weep for His crown of thorns, for with that you have bloodied what also He gave you.
He is forsaken; He is dead; He was hung with criminals, and is sealed in stone.
Cry for forgiveness, for He is dead, and hath descended to Hell.
I wish I had text someone else had written; it sounds better than my pseudo-high English. I've always felt closer to Christ than I have to God; he is more human. I always figure that he's been through so much pain, and I wish there were anything I could do to repay him; some way to sympathize. Of course, there's no way to know if he wants sympathy; it seems to me that he sought human companionship most fervently with Pontius Pilate, and even that was only an intellectual connection, because Pontius realized he was innocent and that tyrany, ambition, and mob rule had dictated Jesus' death. The desciples were, primarily, tools; boxes to carry on the word of God. Yes, they were loyal to him (even Judas Escariot, but that's a different discussion) and yes, he surrounded himself with them and sought their friendship, but he couldn't get close to them because none of them (save Judas) knew or understood exactly what was going on.
Hmm, it appears I'm rambling. It's late.
Weep, Jerusalem! Beat your chests, Israel! Tear your clothes, Zion! The moon bleeds! The cloth which separates men from God hath torn, and the very earth trembles in sorrow! For your Lord, Christ your Saviour, hath breathed his last!
