Capt. Deep woke with a start, thinking she heard some noise off in the distance. She drew her swords, and approached the bush she thought she heard noises but nothing was there. Assuming it was a small animal that had run through, she disregarded it and put her swords away.
As the hours worked their way by, and repairs were made to the ship. Lunch time came around, and Capt. Deep saw no sense in using food they had stored up when they were on an uncharted, uninhabited island. There were probably plenty of foods to feed an entire native group!
And indeed there was, but it was untouched for the island natives didn’t eat the fruits that grew plentifully. The pirates were unaware of the natives’ presence however, so Capt. Deep sent scouts to find and gather food for the crews.
Amber and Cody were sent out to find food to please their captains. Cody found a tree with coconuts and another with bananas, and Amber managed to catch a wild bore! They headed back to the campsite, but Cody told the crew he had to go back to where he had seen a small squirrel’s den. He thought the squirrels would make a nice treat.
He headed into the woods, with his captain, Will following along. He found the squirrel den, but before he could get the tiny creatures, Will heard the sound of drums off in the distance. “Stay here, get the squirrels, but I hear something. I’ll be right back.”
“Shouldn’t we go together?” Cody asked.
“No, just let me go.” Will said. “I was trained by the best for situations like this. Besides, there are no other people here. We have nothing to worry about!” And so he wandered towards the noise, his inborn curiosity getting the better of him.
Deep in the woods, in the heart of the island, he found a large net with a pig trapped in it, struggling to get free. “A free meal already caught for us eh?” Will smiled, and pulled out his pocket knife to cut the pig free and take it back to camp with him.
But as he turned the pig around, he saw the face of a man! He jumped back, drawing his sword and preparing for battle.
Something moved behind him, and so he quickly spun around, and only had the time to cry out in shock as natives surrounded him and captured him.
His wrists and ankles tied to a pole, he was carried back to their camp, unconscious and silent.

Capt. Deep and the two crews paraded through the dense jungle, searching for the crewmember they had lost. Will’s cry had been heard across the island, so the pirates immediately began to pursue his captors, though they knew nothing about them then.
Will stayed close to Capt. Deep, hoping his leg would be able to take him that far for that long. They were trying to play their adventure by ear, but there was no way to use their ears, as there was no noise to listen for.
Will was at that very moment waking to a cage, and a very uncomfortable one at that. There was a large bulging fire, with natives in masks dancing around it in some sort of ceremony.
He cried out in fear, and the pirates knew where he was. He wasn’t far, but they would have to hope that they found him soon, or else who knew what could happen!
Cody led them to the place where Will had heard the noises and gone wandering off, and they too heard the drums that Will had heard. They came to the same net, but it was empty, except for the hollow logs that made noises as they banged together when something was caught, and there was a gaping hole.
And Capt. Deep instantly seemed to know what had made the hole. “Will.”
