The commodore’s ship pursued them, despite the pirates’ attempts to sail away from him.
The two enemies glared at each other, and the parties seemed equally matched up. “You lied to me, Captain! I can tell that you tried to hide the truth with your tail between your legs, but your head held high!” The commodore snapped.
“So what if I did? What did it bring to you?” Capt. Deep asked.
“You made me wonder what happened to my precious boy! He’s my only child; I don’t want him under the control of pirates!” The commodore said, not knowing Will was hiding in the shadows, listening to every word his father spat out.
His hatred for pirates, his love of his son – could his father find a compromise to tolerate pirates and still love his son, no matter what Will’s decisions were? Or was the family doomed to be separated forever?
Capt. Deep and the commodore continued bickering though.
“Well, that’s not very nice to say before us, now is it Jack?” Capt. Deep mocked.
“I told you to stop calling me Jack. I’m known around the port in Britain as Isaac, and that is what you shall call me!” The commodore said.
“Funny, because I have a source saying tat your name is Jack, not Isaac. That’s your middle name, is it not?” Capt. Deep asked.
“How could you know that? The only ones who know that are me wife and son… William…” The commodore said. “Where is he? The jig is up, you’ve given yourself away! You know more than you’re letting on!”
“Maybe I asked him about your name one of those nights I was hiding in your shrubs?” Capt. Deep said.
“Captain, I don’t think you understand me when I say ‘I want to know the whereabouts of my son, now!’”
And he jumped from one ship to another, and the two began to fight, and so the battle took root, and for some, it would be their last battle with pirates.
