 Chapter 2
The Thieving Guild


“The way to The Thieving Guild was lost to man since before the ‘First
Passing’.”said Shimo telling Rayu as the elevator flew down at an amazing speed. People think that it was built by dwarves at the height of their wealth. It was found totally by accident when a thief named Imor Hame was cornered and wished for a way to bring the things he and his group of thieves had stole to the poor people he cared for. The tablet then flashed the different colors and let him and his gang in right before the police had a chance to capture them. He was so grateful he let all the thieves in as a sanctuary and a storage and created the first official ‘Thieves Manual’.” Shimo finished and looked at Rayu. “And this is how the thieves guild was created. But be warned Rayu.” And he looked up. “The Guild in all directions never ends, but it has many doorways all over the world. Its so far underground even under the oceans but above the molten lava and the planets core.
When we tried to dig a new area using magical shovels they all broke. Upon further investigation we realized that the Entire guild is protected by a magical metal called Anthriam that’s all over the walls. This is a very special metal because once you craft it onto a wall or into a weapon it can never be changed. The last thieve who tried, turned to stone and is now in one of the Guilds underground courtyards as a reminder to all.”
As she finished talking the elevator stopped and the door opened with a ding.They walked out and Shimo said,”This, is The Thieving Guild.” Rayu looked up and his mouth hung open in awe. There was a whole city under- ground! Hundreds of people walked around in their own business. Shops and houses, stables and banks, hundreds of buildings, big and small. The most impressive thing though, is when you looked up at the ceiling a mirror of the sky was there exactly as was happening on the surface! In the distance was a huge hill with a large limestone building
upon it.
“Anything to say?” asked Shimo in pure glee as if she had built the city herself. Rayu seemed paralyzed with amazement.
“Wow.....”
“Just what I’d thought you’d say. Now come on I’ll show you around this area of the city. Oh and one more thing. Never steal down here. Its against the law and the walls have eyes.”
Rayu heeded her words and watched the city in motion. The city was beautiful as ifmade as if it was for a king.‘No doubt about what Shimo said about the dwarves,’ thought Rayu as Shimo was telling him where everything was. “Is the Anthriam really all that powerful?" asked Rayu, "And why cant it be melted down
after it has been made?”
“Well ,”said Shimo,“even today’s science has no idea how or why but I’ll stickwith my own theory.”
“What’s that?”asked Rayu.
“They do it because they can.”
Rayu let out a laugh of relief. He thought she would go into a long, boring speech about metals.
“Here we are at my shop!”said Shimo happily leading him into a small house with a sign in Hemlu, the unofficial language of the Hybrids for only they could read it, and english. Inside the shop was no more impressive, very small but with many cabinets and shelves full to the point of exploding. As soon as Shimo got in she hung her bag on a rack and took out all the silk she had bought previously.
“Why don’t you take a walk around and I’ll set up shop, okay?”Shimo suggested seeing that Rayu was getting bored.”Just don’t take to long, okay? And I’ll give you some money to buy something good for yourself.” She continued.
“I’ll be back in a little bit Shimo! See you!” Rayu yelled happily taking the money in glee.
As he rushed out of the shop she smiled. “What a kid, what a kid..... well you know what they say..... potentional is always something special.”
