Chapter1
A young start


A cloaked figure made its way through the crowed streets of the city of Gamo, capital of the desert island Numaro. The air was thick with smells of the food and items brought from all over the world to be sold next to the palace, for today, today is the festival of Pharaohs. All the streets are decorated with signs, sales, banners, flags and sell outs of rare and coveted items. Lucky whoever gets there first! Dancers and musicians all around while yells were all in the air,
“ Rubies for your wife-oh sorry ma’am”
“Silks from the other side of the world! Only three harno!*”
This caught the cloaks attention and made a tight swerve to where the stall
was.
"Three harno for the silk right?”she asked the salesman taking off her cloak revealing her race.
Her name was Shimo and was a hybrid cat. A very rare thing in this lifetime.Shehad short, bushy, red hair and silver grey eyes, a piercing above her left eye. She wore awhite midriff ,a black collar ,blue jeans ,black hiking boots and carried an green bag overher shoulder. She had a sleek and regal look as if she been living through a lot more thenher age suggests.
“Why yes ma’am and I can infer that from your clothes you are wealthy an-“
But at that moment a young boy rushed out of the crowd and lunged for the hybrids bag with such a speed never seen (probably why he had never been caught before).
But before the boy was within an inch of the bag her hand shot out and grabbed both his in one fell swoop.
“Hey ,hey!!!!” he screamed as she let go of his hands and grabbed his feet then hung him upside down.“LET ME GO YOU b***h!!!!!!” he kept screaming as a crowd gathered laughing and jeering at him for finally getting caught.
“Nice language, nice people.” she muttered under her breath remembering a time when she had been treated like that. The boy had a tail she realized in shock. She knew that there were no hybrids in this part of the city, at least no fox hybrids! Usually only bird and cow hybrids. He was a blond and had blue eye that is also rare in this country. In place of hands he had claws that were furry and red-the same color as his fox ears and tail.
“-d respectable.” The shopkeeper finished in awe.
“Here,”said Shimo flipping a coin toward the salesman. “Filler‘er up.” she
continued throwing him her bag. The young boy was still screaming all the while for her to let go.
“HEY!!!!!” he screamed clawing at her. ”LET ME GO!!!!!!!!!!!”
Then the crowd started yelling too.
“Shut up brat!”
“We’re sick of you always stealing!”
“Grow up already!”
Shimo looked very sad at these remarks and thought how bad it must be for him and looked down at him. He had a look of pure pain and hate like a volcano build-up over hundreds of years, but he looked only 12. Then Shimo stared something that would last a lifetime and more.
“Here is your bag madam.”Said the shopkeeper handing her bag back.
“Thanks. Hey kid,”she asked.”What’s your name?”
He looked up at her wondering why she cared about him. Why? “It-It’s Rayu Namino. Why?” He asked suspecting something something as any thief would.
“Because,”Shimo said with smile and a twinkle in her eye.“You are going to be my apprentice.”
At that moment all the jeering had stopped and the crowd went totally silent at the sound of her words.
“Wha-What?!?!?!”a huge yell let out.”Why him?”
“Why not?”Shimo answered.”He is very strong and quick and learns fast, I
think.”Then Shimo put him down and right-side-up.
“What do you say, Rayu?”Shimo asked extending a hand up.
He looked around at faces he knew all his life and hated, then looked back at her and let out a big grin and grabbed and smacked her hand.
“You got it master!”He yelled.
“Lets go.”Shimo said leading him out of the stunned crowd and down the main road.
“Where?”he asked.
“Shopping.”She answered happily.
As he groaned as a boy would, she added,”For you I mean!” And Rayu was very excited for this was the first time he went shopping.
As Shimo turned a corner away from the main general store and into a back ally Rayu grew impatient and asked irritably, “Where are we w- woah.”Rayu finished as they turned into a 4th allyway. In front of them where a dead end was supposed to be was a huge stone tablet with weird pictures and writing all over.
“This Rayu is a very special place,”said Shimo in the most serious tone she could muster,”it’s the secret headquarters to The Thieving Guild of Gamo, Numaro and you have potential to be a great thief and warrior so that’s why you’re here. Watch closely and remember ‘cause I’ll only do this once.”and she started to press different spots in the tablet causing them to flash colors. When she was done Shimo kicked the tablet as if it was a broken vending machine and it split down the middle like a door.
“Come on. There’s an elevator.”Shimo said.
Rayu then regaining his senses yelled,”Wai- Wait for me!”
