The Chronicles of Esan!
More than two parties?
Typed this for Civics. The statement for our essay is: In order for America to truly meet the needs of the nation, more than two political parties are needed. We had to identify whether or not we agreed with the statement, then back it up with our own ideas and beliefs. Read it if you want, tell me if you find any grammar mistakes, and if you like it. If you think I need more, tell me, if you think I added too much, let me know. I happen to be a Libertarian, so it might be a little biased, if it is, I apologize.

Also, if you choose to read any other journal entries, don't comment on them please.

America needs more than two political parties if it ever hopes to truly meet every need that rises in the nation. To have two parties is to lie two roads ahead, both fenced in with walls that don't let you see anything else. Both roads have distinct destinations, and, for most Americans, neither is a good place to live. Some wish to make their own path, to walk in between or around, to smash the walls and change when needed. More parties would give Americans that ability, and the diversity would better serve the freedom and will of the people. More choices and decisions allows for a more accurate pick of a president. It would create a country where voting was no longer choosing the lesser of two evils, it would become choosing the best of the best, someone you would truly like to see running the country.

More than two parties gives the American people more freedom to choose. Sometimes, Democrat and Republican isn't enough for an American. Two parties and three hundred thousand people? Two ideas, two philosophies of government are not enough to justly describe Americans. We are a melting pot, immigrants from all over the world have created this country and strengthened it, such diversity can never hope to be accurately displayed through only two parties.

More parties means more answers to hard questions. Republicans have their way of solving things, and so do Democrats, but to think such problems can be answered with only two ways of thinking is ludicrous. With more parties, more answers will arise that may fix problems we would have never known could be fixed. The nation is divided, black and white, liberal and conservative, yes and no, more parties will spread new ways of thinking, and between black and white, a new color will be born, gray. Sprouting from every side will be different colors which will harbor different opinions, and different answers and ideas. Ideas and answers, melting together in a pot that will become a cure to any and every problem that plagues America. Our government would then take after the very idea of America, which would give us such diversity that we will be able to rise above anything.

When people are given only two roads, they are forced to choose one. When did choosing a President become a chore, something one is forced to do? People must be given more choices, so that they can go in on election day, and truly feel happy about who they vote for, who they truly want to vote for. So that, maybe, we won't be picking whoever is the lesser of two evils, but someone great, someone that we picked for his ideals, his strength, and his genius, not because he happened to be better than whoever he was running against. Choices and freedom are intertwined, more freedom requires more choices, so to become a free country, more choices must be available to the people, to the public.

America needs more than two political parties if it wishes to solve all the problems that afflict it. More parties would give us more choices, and that would better increase the diversity in a country that is already so diverse. With so many problems that face America, we are given only two answers to choose from. A country with more than two parties would summon up answers we would have never thought of, perhaps even right answers. Voting would no longer be reduced to a burden pushed upon us every four years, it would blossom into something we look forward to, something we can proudly take part in. In conclusion, with more parties in America, we'd have more choices, more freedom, more answers, and truly be given a choice of who we want for President.
