Villain’s Vale was dark. Not that he cared, he was used to darker and danker places back home, but at least the constant moaning of the stiffs or the annoying bickering of Pain and Panic kept his mind wondering. Here, it was just silent. He couldn’t even say ‘dead’ silence either, just an eerie hollowness.
Hades stood in the middle of a hallway, arms crossed over his chest, staring down three girls. All three of them were mounted up on the walls like some ill favored trophies, cast in shining glass boxes surrounded by thorns. All three remained motionless in a sobering deep sleep.
“Cinderella, Snow White, and the Princess Aurora,” a calm voice said to his left, as the hollow echo of a staff struck the floor. Hades turned to his side, seeing a woman standing in his midst, black and purple garbed while a large black crow sat preening itself on her shoulder. Oddly enough the normal horned mantled hood she wore around her face wasn’t in sight. Instead, long black wavy hair curled against her longer light green face. Hades raised an eyebrow, a smirk on his face.
“You know you ought to go around more like that,” Hades said, his smirk parting to reveal his set of sharp yellow teeth. “You tend to have the whole man eater dragon lady vibe going most of the time.”
The witch narrowed her eyes sharply, Hades noted the silence breaking with what he swore he heard to be a growl. “Yeash,” the death God chuckled, turning back to the glass cases. “Babe, you got a sense of humor like the stiffs back home.”
“The others left hours ago,” she started, arching an eyes, her scowl unyielding. “Why is it that you are still here?”
Hades simply shrugged. “I’m in no hurry. We’re looking for these dames right? Can’t imagine there’s any back at the Coliseum anyways. Nothing there but a bunch overly stocked chariot chasers. We’re a few souls short of Princesses in the least.”
The witches nails rolled against her staff in thought. “The Princesses are only a single part of our plan. Or have you completely forgot about the search for the Key Holes?”
Hades didn’t answer her. He only caught sight of the woman in the middle; a golden blonde female in the dark pink dress. Even though they were asleep, the spell over them almost gave the silent aura of dead. They laid upright, unmoving, eyes shut as if frozen in time. ‘Kinda creepy, if I say so myself,’ he thought with a light smirk before shaking his head. As he watched, he heard the witch step forwards. “You kinda were short of details in the meeting. Why do you need these girls again?”
The witch let out a small chuckle, before she closed her eyes as if drawing upon a distant memory. “Seven of the purest hearts, each overflowing with light, devoid of any darkness. The Princesses of Heart; When brought together, they grant the power to rule all worlds.”
Hades rolled his shoulders. “Well that’s a bit vague don’t you think? Catch um all and see what happens? The guy who told you all of this- he didn’t leave some scroll behind with a long list of incantations on how to control this power?”
The woman paused, hard eyes falling upon Aurora. “You needn’t worry, my dear. All that matters now is that we recover the remaining four.”
“Mhmmmm, and the worlds will be yours, I get to kick my brother out of Mt. Olympus and everything will be hunky-dory,” he started a bit sarcastically, turning to the other with a quizzical look. “You know, no offense Malef, but somehow I don’t see how gaining a hand full of girls are going to shift the tide in our favor. Now if we managed to scrounge up some more giant Heartless that could start terrorizing the worlds, then we'd be in business.”
Maleficent paused, the crow to her side ruffled its feathers in a grim sense of tension before fluttering off into the rafters of the high cathedral ceiling. Hades watched it go, it’s black feathers disappearing out of the blue light of his own aura and into the shadows. The sound of fluttering feathers echoed against the walls, making the God half wonder where it was watching the two of them from. He turned back to returned look with a sly smile. “True enough, they appear to be nothing more than harmless children… But needless to say, there are powers at work here far greater than that of your understanding. If they knew their own potential surely they'd be able to surmise phenomenal power,” she started easily before stepping forwards to the glass, outstretching a long rose colored nail. “It’s strange to think, this is not the first time this girl has been locked within one of my curses,” Maleficent continued almost to herself with a light reminiscent chuckle. “Surely the fates will not grant you an escape a third time.”
Hades snorted, with an eye roll but kept his thoughts to himself. 'Trust me babe, those old bags have more to worry about then dealing with dames in distress.' Still, he rubbed his chin thoughtfully, while looking between the young girls.
Powers of the Heart. Power that could hold the most resilient of light, connection of memories, and the purest of emotions linking to that of every person they had ever met. The god shook his head before turning away, leaving the witch and her captors be.
'Powers of the Heart. Now what in Chronos's name can you do with a power like that?'
