-Confucius had his Analects and I have my journal-
Read Betwixt the Lines
There was a sort of look in his eyes
Divinity reflected from the sky
Intimacy in his disguise
Truth in his lies
Mirth in his byes
A je ne sais quoi in his elaborate replies
Restraint in his cries
A fall in his rise
Alleviation as he fries
Amelioration in his demise
There was more to him than a look could realize

You do like your paradoxes. It sounds happy at first, but slowly drifts to sadness. Particularly those last three lines. "Amelioration in his demise," pretty depressing, that. Makes me wonder what made it better without him. Although the line before it sounds like a reference to the electric chair. Still, makes me wonder what inspired this.

I like the rhyme scheme as well. Simple, but it flows like a freestyle rap. Except maybe the french, there. I don't speak French, so I couldn't say for certain.
