Monster World chapter 14-Things get tougher
When we last saw our heroes they were recooperating in rose's home but their peace was interrupted by the arrival of koji who has come to help them in their quest for he knew that stripes' forces were getting stronger with each passing moment. Sarah was becoming more and more homesick as time had gone on and had accidentally wished for an old friend of hers to come to monstra. Now that very friend is falling through the same portal that brought sarah to monstra and there's no telling where she will end up.
Chameleon stood outside of rose's home all by himself, he was thinking of his next plan to capture sarah and her little friends when all of a sudden, he heard screaming coming from above him. AAAAAHHHHHH! He looked up and saw the figure of a person falling from the sky. Huh!? He said in a panic, trying to position himself to catch that person. He caught the person before he or she could hit the ground and the force of the fall had shook him up abit. Whoa are you alright? he asked but she didn't answer. She only looked up at him in a daze and saw only his shadow covered face before passing out. Chameleon could tell she was a girl now that he was holding her. He could also tell that she was a human like sarah and she was just as pretty as sarah too. Chameleon didn't know what surprised him more the girl falling from the sky or that he found another human. (I better take her to sarah. Maybe she knows who this girl is) Chameleon thought, looking at rose's house with concern.
Meanwhile, stripes was searching through his castle for something that was of great importance to him. He searched his basement halls and turned up nothing but dust. I know it's down here somewhere. But where? Stripes said aloud. He checked an old book shelf for a hidden switch and he found it. But he couldn't touch it because of his ghostly form. Luckily for him, his soldiers were in the room with him. You, I command you to pull that book out! He ordered and the shadow blade pulled out the book and they heard something click. The stone wall next to the book shelf opened up to reveal a secret door. The others looked at it with surprised looks. Stripes only grinned with evil satisfaction. It must be in here. Let's have a look inside minions. He said. They opened the door and looked inside the room and saw an old coffin lying in the middle of the floor. Stripes stuck his ghostly head inside of the coffin and looked back up at his warriors. This is it, we found it. We found my body. Stripes said excitedly. This is what stripes was looking for, his body. For it is his only means of coming back to life. Without it, the revival ritual would be useless. Don't just stand there you fools, help me get this out of here! Stripes' men went in the room to get the coffin like he told them to and they took it to the ritual room.
Back at rose's home, koji and the others were wondering what sarah wished for this time. Sarah what did you wish for this time? Boa asked with concern. I-I wanted one of my friends from Earth to be here. She nervously said. Then, all of a sudden, they heard chameleon come in. Chameleon? What are you doing back here? Ziran asked. And who is she? Striker asked, noticing the girl in chameleon's arms. I don't know. She just fell from the sky and I caught her in the nick of time. He said. (Fell out of the sky? Just like sarah?) Striker thought. Those words made him remember the day he meet sarah. Sarah looked over the girl chameleon was holding and her eyes went wide with surprise. Boa took notice. What's the matter sarah? He asked. I know this girl. sarah said. You do? What's her name? Ziran asked. Her name is Taylor. She's a friend of mine. Sarah told them calmly, even though she was worried. Taylor? The one you said was waiting for you on Earth? How could she have got here so quick? Rose asked sarah because this made no sense to her. Remember when I said that I wanted to see one of my friends? Well this is that friend. She explained to them. Koji smiled at her and said; I understand how you feel young sarah. We all want to see our dearest friends when we are lonely or sad. But when they are too far away, we wish for a way to bring our friends to us. There is an old saying; Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. He's right, you should be more cafeful with that locket of yours! Striker said in response to koji's wise words. Chameleon who was getting tired of holding taylor decided to lay her down on a couch. He scanned her and found no injuries. Then his helmet's scanner showed him her skill level. (280? She would've been dead if I didn't catch her) Chameleon thought. He wondered how sarah was handling all this. He looked over his right shoulder and saw her conversing with her friends. If you could wish her here, why not just wish yourself and taylor to go home? Ziran asked. I tried wishing for myself home yesterday but nothing happened. I don't know why. She said with disappointment. It was unfortunate though, it was a good idea too. Striker then walked up to sarah and he put his left hand on her shoulder and he gave her an assuring smile. Don't worry, we will help you and taylor find a way back to Earth even if your locket can't. He said nicely which made sarah smile with a little blush, this made him blush too. Chameleon starred at him with jealousy. Causing everyone else in the room to laugh a bit.
Meanwhile, stripes and his soldiers were trying to open up the coffin which was tightly sealed. Come on, just a little more! Put your backs into it! Stripes told his 4 shadow blades who were opening the coffin with a metal bar. After much effort they got it open, dust flowed out of the coffin like water. After the dust cleared, stripes took another look at his corpse. His body was mostly bones but it had some flesh that was still rotting in his torso. The most noticible thing about his skeleton was a hole on the left side of his chest, it looked alot like a sword injury and it's where the sword of six spirits stabbed him. Stripes was not pleased by what he was looking at. But now he had his body and he going to put it to good use soon. My body, I haven't seen it for a 100 years. Though I wish it was in better shape. Nomatter, I will be alive soon enough. He said, still looking at himself in the coffin. Some of his soldiers came in the room and they brought in some tools that stripes needed, as well as the magic jars that were filled with energy that they stole from people. Stripes was making preparations for his revival but the time wasn't right. He still needed more energy and his warriors will have to work double time for the ritual.
Meanwhile striker, koji and the others were keeping a close watch over taylor who was still fast asleep. Everyone was tried after everything that happened today and it was only 5:00 in the afternoon. Sarah wasn't sure if taylor was going to wake up soon or not. Ohh, I can 't stand it anymore. I got to wake her up. She said out of the blue. I hope you know what you're doing. Rose said, thinking that waking up taylor this soon was a bad idea. Sarah only nodded, assuring rose that she knew what she was doing. Let's give her some room! Stand back guys! Striker calmly told the others and they did what he said. Sarah kneeled by taylor, put her hand on taylor's shoulder and started shacking it abit. Taylor, it's time for you to wake up! Sarah said calmly. Taylor didn't move at first, but soon she was starting to stirr. She slowly opened her eyes and saw sarah gazing down at her happily. S-Sarah? Is that you? She asked. Yeah, it's me. Sarah said to taylor which only made her smile, she then got up and huggd sarah. Oh sarah, it is you. Thank goodness. Taylor said in a very glad tone. Ofcourse it's me silly. Who else would I be? Sarah asked rhetorically. Taylor then looked sarah in the eyes and said; Oh sarah, I just had the worst nightmare of my life. I dreampt that I was waiting for you in the park and then suddenly, I was falling from the sky and then some shadowy figure saved me. She said to sarah, obviously remembering everything that just happened to her as a dream. Sarah didn't want to be the bearer of bad news but she had to tell her. Taylor, i'm not sure how to say this but that wasn't a dream. It really did happen. Sarah said nevously which only made taylor freak out. WHAT!? Then where am I and who was that shadow covered man? She said in a panick. Calm down girl! If you get too excited you'll pass out. Striker said. Taylor then looked behind sarah and she saw him. W-Who are you? She asked hesitantly. My name is striker, i'm glad to see that you're awake. He said. Are-Are you the one who saved me? Taylor asked again. No, he is. Striker pointed to chameleon who was standing right next to him. Taylor looked at chameleon and she noticed the helmet that was on his head, it was a shiny silver helmet that covered most of his face except for his eyes, which were yellow and cat-like. Taylor thought those eyes looked very creepy but she wanted to know who he was. So, you're my savior? She asked him. My name is chameleon and you gave me a fright when I saw you falling from the sky. I'm glad that I was able to catch you. He said in a pleasant tone. Thanks for saving my life, you're a hero mr.chameleon. She said in a thankful tone. Hero? Nobody has ever called me that before. He said in all honesty.
Chameleon left the room after that, but not without taylor noticing his tail. The sight of it sent a shiver up her spine. Okay, now i'm really confused, why did he have a tail? Is he a lizard fanatic or something? She asked. I think I can explain things for you. Sarah said. people around here are not like us. Take a look at striker! Doesn't something about him look odd? Taylor took a look at him and then she noticed that his ears were pointy and so were the rest of striker's friends. Huh? Your ears are pointed. Are you an elf? She asked. Yes and so are my friends. Striker said looking over at the rest of the gang. They all introduced themselves to their new friend; Hi my name's rose. It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is ziran, I hope we can get along. I'm boa, and I think you'll like it here. My name is koji. They all spoke calmly so they wouldn't frighten her. Uh hi, m-my name is taylor. It's nice to meet you guys. Taylor said with a studder.
Taylor was still a little confused, she thought monsters were only make-believe and yet she was looking at 4 elves and a short armadillo-like creature. Sarah gladly explained the situation to her. No way, we're in another world? Taylor asked, wide-eyed. Yup and if we want to go home, we need to find the sword of six spirits, which is broken into six pieces. Sarah said firmly. We already have three pieces of it. The other three should be easy to find. Ziran said with a cocky smile. Don't forget what we went through to get the 2nd and 3rd fragments. Striker said. I for one hope that the other three wont end up in the wrong hands. Boa said with a hint of worry, which was not like him at all. In fact, they all felt like that. Don't worry my sons, for as long as you have each other and work as a team, no one can stop you. Koji spoke with his great wisdom. He's right, with your powers, fighting styles and my brains, we would make a great team. Rose stated confidently. Wow, you think so? Taylor asked. Yeah, you should see what those boys can do. They can kick butt. Rose replied. Taylor then looked over to the three boys and she wondered if what rose said is true. They looked tough and resourceful but can they back it up? But now was not the time to wonder, she needed some more rest. We should probably get some practice before we go out again. Stripes' minions seem to be getting stronger as we explore the land. Said a thoughtful sarah. You're right, those last creatures we fought, those shadow dragons, showed us a level of power that we haven't seen before. We have to get stronger in order for us to deal with them. Boa said in agreement with sarah. Huh? A shadow dragon? Like those dragons from faiytales? Taylor asked. Well they're not as big as the story dragons but they are just as dangerous. Sarah said, she thought about those black lizards and how scary they were. Their teeth, claws and glowing red eyes were especially creepy. Chameleon himself couldn't help but wonder what they looked like underneath those masks, because they looked like hunters. They even fought with the same brutal tactics of a hunter, but they blasted fireballs like a real dragon. Striker then walked up to chameleon and asked; Hey chameleon, I want to know something. Do you know the power levels of those shadow warriors? What makes you think that I have that kind of information? Chameleon asked while trying to play dumb. Oh don't pretend like you don't know it. Sarah told me that your helmet can detect a warrior's power. Now do you know what their power level is or not? Striker asked again, a bit annoyed by chameleon's stubborn additude. Okay you got me. I do know what their exp is. Most of the shadow blades had a power level of 1,400. But the shadow dragons had alot more power than those blades. He stated. Really? How high was it? Striker asked. Their power level was over 2,000, all six of them. Chameleon said, clenching his fists. He couldn't believe that those things almost beat him. What?! 2,000? Then they really are stronger than all of us. He said, thinking that he and the others got off lucky. Sarah did them a favor when she slammed the earth fragment against the ground. He wondered what the next fragment could do. Only koji knows that for sure.
