The World
Divine Façade takes place in a world named Gaea – a land where magic does exist and there are two main races that populate the planet, a rarer third ethnic people hidden in shadows.
The two races that make up the majority population of Gaea are the Humans (being the majority) and the Shoboos – those with animalistic features. While humans are usually the most destructive and shorter-living, they are responsible for the many technological advances on Gaea, especially the last few years. The Shoboo, on the other hand, depending on their “animal” type, tend to be more connected to nature and the world they live in, especially the elder plant Shoboo, such as the Willows.
There is one type of shoboo, however, that is unwelcome in most societies for reasons long forgotten. These shoboos are the bird people, also known as the Voldo race. These people are far less welcomed in most areas around Gaea due, simply to a vile reputation they have for being pick pockets and petty criminals. The cause of the birds’ awful reputation is long in the past, having taken place long before any current generation today was even born.
The third race, unknown to all except their devoted followers, are the Divine. The Divine are gods among men, to put it simply. They are more powerful than anything Gaea will, or has ever seen. Their truest weakness is the fact that they have no corporeal bodies to call their own, requiring a strong host, exceptional and compatible in their spiritual and mental strength. The followers of the Divine, the Terra Luxis, are ones from any race that are willing to follow this fanatical cult, and they are the ones that are sent out to find Hosts for their Gods, going to great lengths to obtain perfect vessels... sometimes at the cost of their own lives.
In terms of technology, Gaea has only dipped its growing fingers into the industrial age, and are advancing quite rapidly. Guns do exist, though they are a rarity in their newly created form, and are hardly ever used. Electronic devices are rare, though they do exist and are gaining popularity in the larger cities. Currently, the most commonly used technology are the devices used for transportation (such as airships, and the newly invented hovering cycle-vehicles that were lovingly named Zooms by the inventor’s five year old son). As for weaponry, aside from the aforementioned guns, non-magic weapons are fairly primitive. Swords, staffs, and blunt objects predominate through the markets, with more exotic weapons sold here and there.
