So I guess i've got myself all worked up now lol So Anyways if you read the About Me were gunna have a brief-ish recap. So When I lived in Indiana. My stepmom and Dad were still together and we lived i the big red 2story house with a front and back porch surrounded by what seemed to be a huge green sea of grass. We didn't have any fences to seperate us from our neighbors but we were friends with all of them and didn't have to worry about anything getting stolen.
Butlerville was and probably still is a really small town! We knew a lot of people lol We were even friends with the couple that owned The Little Store. lol That was literally its name! The Little Store. and it was down the street and across from my dads work. It was an autobody shop and he did metalwork, paint jobs and some other misc. stuff. I remember the time he worked on a semi truck. He put flames on the hood while he was working on the engine for the trucker. And this one car he painted banana yellow lol I think it was one of those old cameros or cadilacs something. I don't really remeber the car just the color but I can remember laughing at it cuz it was so differnt from all of the other cars he worked on. My dad eventually found an old attic with blocks and a bunch of other toys and when my brothers and I got tired of playing in the back with all of the totaled cars. We would go up that rickety ladder/steps and play with the random things in there.
In the back we had this guard dog Butch. I still miss him. My dad brought him home one day from the shelter and carried him into the living room in his arms. Im pretty sure our kat Psycho just had kittens that night too....underneath the couch...yeah I think so but anyways, Butch was one of those special dogs that just melt your heart as soon as you look at him. He was the most mixed up mut I had ever seen! I think he was mostly boxer or pitbull and if someone outside my brothers or mom and dad got into the back with the cars he would run down the zip line snarling and barking trying to attack them. Lol I remember this one guy Sheldon I he tried to get into the back yard once and Butch went crazy! He was my brother Patric's friend by the way. Well Butch either snapped something or wriggled out of his collar but the next thing I remeber laughing about is Sheldon scrambling on top of the car nearly crying cuz Butch was tring to attack him. lol I still remebr that kid. I hated him so much but I don't remeber why...oh well dosn't matter now does it? So anyways back to the shop lol
It was down the street a ways but in between was this demolished house. The foundation was there <the concrete> and you could still see the imprints of the walls but the grass had grown waist deep around it dirt covered it. I remeber playing on it when my stepmom and my dad were working in the shop. So this is backtracking to my house by the way. Then I don't remember what and I distinctly remember this telephone pole cuz there was this ivy looking plant. It was honeysuckle or something of the sorts and you could suck out the nectar. lol I just ate the whole damn flower but anyways. We would pass the couple of cars that parked in the parking lot/swamp our yard and then there was our house. It was actually on the corner of the block.
Ok so Ill try to describe it as best I can. Ok so imagine standing on the rooftop and righ across the street to the right was the sawmill. Well the fence and the mountains of sawdust the neighborhood cats would hang out at. across the street directly across from us was our neighbors from new york. I was really good friends with their daughter and when I was grounded and she was riding her bike I would yell out of my window to talk to her lol I got in trouble so much for that. I eventually got my window nailed shut cuz of it lol Ok concentrating. Then their neighbors to our left...the left of their house from our point of view. I don't remember much about them but I remember when the front tire of my bike literally fell out from beneath me and It was right in front of their house and this guy was in his garage working on seomethin and he offered to fix my bike. I was too scared to get close to him. Stranger danger remember? lol I think they were the ones with the maize field.
It still sounds funny to me. A white community without a single Native American and yet there was maize lol^.^ But anyways it was like 2-4 acres of maize. My friends, brothers and Iwould run around the fields playing tag and all the neighborhood kids would gather around/in the field and have mini wars with the dirt clods and broken ears of maize. It hurt and we came home with bruises but It was a hell of a lot of fun. ^.^
To the left again was one I don't think our family didn't know but that was also where the block stopped.,this is still across the street, My brothers and I had a busstop in front of their house and I remember this huge tree. I called it the helicopter tree cuz the seeds fell like the blades of helicopters.
Ok down that street was some random house and then further on was our old neighbor's house. We moved from the next house down from that one the the Red 2story. Parts of their house was burned and they couldnt use a room or two and half the house was blacked by ash and burned wood but nobody in the neighborhood had that much money so they just delt with it. They had this awsome backyard. Well awsome to the mind of a 3rd grader lol It had the creaky, squeaky monkeybar set and creepy gardem gnomes placed all over the yard. I was never allowed to play with them because my stepmom didn't like their family that much....but now that I think about it...They were invited to my parents wedding and brough cornbread...
Don't ask me why I remember I can remember the wierdest things from my childhood. But anyways Oh yeah!! Oh wait no Ill tell you about Gertie later. Our dog. A gorgous Greman Shepard. But yeah Concentrating! Ummmm hold on brain fart......oh ok and way down the ways like a couple of blocks was my brothers friend Doug. He had this above ground pool that we would occasionally use in the summer. I still remember thinking how nice his house was. Putting it next to mine at the time? It was a freakin nice house! I me-no.
Im getting way off track here lol Oh man I can't wait to read this lol Im typing as Im thinking thats why it's so scattered. The memories just keep popping up out of nowhere and I well I just want to get everythinh down.So anyways back to the busstop. Goin down on my block... All I can remember was the white house that this old couple lived in. One day the old woman saw us standing in the rain and told us that whenever it rained we could use her porch and wait for the bus. I remember when she would set something out for us to snack on while we waited for the bus. And halloween we got the most candy of all the kids from them ^.^
But back to the house. My house. The big Red 2story house. We wern't exactly the richest of people so we had an old fashioned I mean dinosaur old heater for the house that was either turned off, even in the freakin winter or it broke and my dad would attempt to fix it once again. The whole house had carpet even the bathrooms. If you walked in from the front you would see the tiny bathroom dor about 8-9 feet away and the washer and dryer groaning and shaking away as they washed load after load of clothes. 7 people in one house? A lot of clothes. Especially since no one but my mom was ALLOWED to do laundry. But hey my brother and I never complained.
Walk through the doorway and you were in the kitchen and to the right there was the staircase upstairs. The dining room was on the other side of the stairs. The doorway was underneath the stairs and we had this litle closet under the stairs too. Anyways the kitchen stuff was all on the right side and you could see straight into the living room. the dining room and the kitchen were both connected to the living room so it was like a loop around house.
Up the stairs to the right and turn back around was my room. 4-5 feet from my room was my brothers room. It was actually pretty big but even so my brothers all 4 of them had to share it. to the left passing the stairs was my parents room. Lol I remember when this huge mob of ladybugs came and no like it seemed like hundreds of them just started to I guess you could call it roosting or something no...bad word..they ummm gathered on the side of the window. INSIDE of the house. Eventually my stepmom took a note card and scraped them off and dumped them in the ivy beds on the side of the house...They also had a wasps nest try and make their home under the top part of the window sill. We had the old fashioned windows where you had to push them up, I mean they were made of wood and everything. They aren't anything like ones ones i've seen in AZ....
Random huh? talking about the windows lol. Ok hmmmmwhat else...
