Chapter 15- Kane

I tried to move my arm, blink, move my toe, but nothing would move! I felt myself get frustrated, but at least my emotions worked. Time seriously had stopped for us. He looked at my sister and I, as if he had just met us again after a hundred years, but I chucked that thought out of my head. We haven't even seen him before we were blind. He shifted his eyes to Lin, and gave him a face, that made look like he was sorry, as he suddenly unfroze Lin. They started speaking in a language that I didn't understand. Maybe it was another dialect of English, but I still couldn't make out any words. The wizard looked back at us, and I felt like I wanted to devour him.

"You! You did this to our family!" Maya screamed at him, probably as frustrated as I was. I was a bit shocked, since we could still talk, and the idea of talking didn't even cross my mind.

"You have no right to be near us when you made us blind!" Maya yelled at the man again, trying to free herself of the frozen barrier

"Maya, calm down. Let me explain." He tried to reason with her

"You have no right to tell her to calm down, when you made us blind!" I cried at him.

"I-I didn't have a choice! The Dark Lord commanded me.." He lowered his head, and Maya broke free of his grasp.

Maya quickly made an energy spear, and threw it at the man. He instantly caught it, which probably shocked Maya as much as I was. No one's ever been able to catch it.. Not that anyone has really been around us. Instead of throwing it back at Maya, the chucked it out the window, that had no glass. He turned back around to face us, and Maya made a ice spear. I wasn't sure, but I was positive that she used the water that I had used for Lin. She aimed for a second, and threw it at him, hitting his head. I saw Maya smile, which I honestly don't know why, because Jason and I were still frozen. I felt like rolling my eyes at her. If he caught it before, how would it hit him this time? I stared, as the wizard disappeared from where Maya hit him, and reappeared behind Maya.

"Stop it, girls. Let me talk" he commanded us, causing Maya to come to a quick halt.

"I have to tell you something about your mother" His face suddenly turned very serious. Maya and I stopped breathing completely.

Our Mother.

It has been four years since we've been without her, and we honestly thought she died a while ago, even if we didn't chose to believe it. We think about her everyday, and we miss her more and more. The only way I can cope with these feelings, is to block it out, and not think about it. It sounds really mean, but it's the only way I can live with myself. It was hard at first, but I somehow managed. Now that he was talking about our mother.. I could feel my eyes start to tear up, and my face felt hotter again. I was probably going to cry.

The wizard took a breath, and opened his mouth, only to close it again. Maybe he felt discouraged. I looked at Lin at the corner of my eyes, and if I could have, I would of gave a small frown. He didn't look very pleased.

"Your mother isn't dead" the wizard stated. He sounded very monotone.

"Why does it matter to you, what our mother is?!" I yelled to him. He had no business in our family matters.

"It.. It just does!" he yelled back, making my eyes water a bit more. I couldn't tell if Maya was crying or not, but I was sure she was worried about Jason.

"Ina is under a spell of the Dark Lord"

"You're lying." Maya stated bluntly.

I stared at him, shocked that.. If our mother was alive, she was under the grasp of the dark lord. I couldn't believe what he was saying, even if I wanted to. Our mother was very strong, and could probably whoop the dark lord's bum any day. If she was still alive, she would of given us some sort of sign that she was okay..

"She is though! I saw it with my own two eyes, if I could of done anything I would have believe me!" he told us, trying to convince us, with not much avail. He was really getting on my nerves.

"Oh? And why the hell should we believe what you're saying?!" I screamed at him

The wizard stood there silently, as if he was debating something. I was watching him carefully, in case he left himself open. I saw something dark block my way, and I realized it was Lin. Why was he standing in front of me?.

"Just tell them Kane!" He told the wizard.

'Kane?!' Maya almost yelled in my head

'What? Do you know him or something?' I asked her in disbelieve.

'That's the name of...' She stopped in her tracks, as if she was afraid to tell me

'Name of who?' I prompted to her.

She didn't reply back to me, and if I could have, I would of glared at her.

"If you don't tell them I will!" Lin almost shouted at him. I tried looking around him, but he was still much taller than I was

The wizard, took a breath, as if he was going to tell us, but this only irritated me more. Why I had such a short temper, I do not know.

"You should be killed the longest and most painful death you b*****d!" I yelled at him.

"THAT'S no way to talk to your father!" He screamed back at me

I stared at him shocked, and my sight went blurry, as a few tear drops fell down my face. It took a few minutes before what he had said sunk in, and it hit me why Maya wouldn't tell me where she had heard the name before. Kane was the name of our dad.

"Y-You're our dad?" Maya asked, shocked

He nodded and took his head out of the hood. His hair was short and he had a small beard. He looked sort of like Maya..

"My eyes are the same colors as yours... at least as yours were." he stated, casting his eyes downward.

I looked at him in disbelieve. If he was seriously our dad, why didn't he tell us before?! Why didn't he come back home to take care of us?! Mom was always crying at night time, because he was gone. Maya and I would go into her room, and snuggle with her, her tear drops sometimes landing on our heads. If he was our father, he would of tried to come back home to us! I shook my head. I was not going to believe his crap.

"No! Our father's dead!" I yelled at him.

"I was to your mother... let me show you." he said, casting a spell

Suddenly the room went white, and I couldn't see Maya, Lin, Jason or even Kane, the man who said he was our dad.

What the hell was going on?
