Rosie swept along the vast, empty beach with her curious, yet nervous eyes. Nothing. Nobody was in sight, as Rosie swore under her breath, made visible by the cold air. She sighed hopelessly, she had really hoped someone could help her find her Great Aunt Minnie's house.
Suddenly, a flicker of movement caught her eye, and she expected to see a bird or a gull, but it wasn't, it was a tall, lean boy, just about her age, maybe older. His sandy blonde hair blended well with the rest of the beach, but his black sweatshirt with blue jeans made him stand out.
Rosie studied this boy for a second, figured he was a local, and without thinking, started running to him, shouting, "Hello? Sir? Could you help me for a sec? Sir?"
The boy turned towards her, and Rosie hesitated. His deep emerald green eyes met hers, and they held their gaze for a small eternity. The only sound Rosie could hear was her thrashing heart, making quite a racket in her chest, she sensed a small feeling of familiarity, somewhere, she had seen this boy before. "Miss?", the boy's smooth, clear voice snapped her out of her trance.
"Huh? Oh, right, sorry," Rosie apologized.
Her face flushed a deep red, she had comepletely frozen and stared at him for who knows how long.
"Do you require assistance?" his silky voice broke her train of thought.
Such formal speech... Rosie thought, then she spoke, "Um yes, sorry. But, uhh, can you help me find this address? I'm a little new here and haven't been able to find anything...", she trailed off.
The boy chuckled, "Yes, I know where it is, would you like for me to accompaney you? It is a bit of a walk, after all."
Rosie's heart skipped a beat, and her face grew hot. Should she accept? This boy didn't seem like those playboys back in Miami... sure, what the heck? Why not? "That sounds nice, would you?" she smiled at him.
The boy's face lit up as he returned the smile. For another small eternity, the walk across town was filled with conversations and grins, but Rosie never wanted it to end. Then, she finally reached the front steps of her great aunt's house.
"Oh," the boy sighed sadly, "I suppose I must bid you adieu,"
It was a shame... her heart dropped and face fell...
And suddenly Rosie's lips were busy being kissed...
