This is a story i wrote called A Sense of Betrayal
Summary: I stared at him He stared at me.
Derek was looking at me like I was trash. And like I was no longer his best friend. And I coudn't help but feel a sense of betrayal.
Chapter One:
"Samatha?"
I looked up upon hearing someone call my name out to me. It was Derek who was trying to get my attention. Well whatever he wanted he got my attention, "What is it?"
He sat next to me on our brown suade sofa, and radomly began wringing his hands in his lap. I looked at him in confusion, what was that boy doing?
"I have something I need to tell you..."
I raised my eyebrow at him suspiciously. He never got this nevrous, and if he did it, it was about the most stupidest things in the world. Like the time he got nervous over answering the phone in the middle of the night after watching One Missed Call. I scoffed upon remembering this certain event. I looked at him, awaiting him to tell me what he wanted to tell me.
He cleared his throat, hesitating to begin again, "I have been offered a job in The Assassination Organization."
I just stared at him not daring to say another word. Even though I was thinking pretty angrily to myself. Which I was sure that that wasn't a healthy habit. But I could really careless right at this moment. When I heard Derek tell me the news, I felt a feeling of betrayal.
The Assassination Organization was an organization that killed vampires, werewolves, sprites, fairies, pixies, things like that. I can't believe he would sign up for something like that, it's like a major stab in the back for me. Seeing as he was also a vampire, but I was as well. And him volunteering to be apart of that made me sick to my stomach. I glared at him, "What are you thinking? Why do you want to be apart of something like that?"
He sighed and looked at me, begging me to let him finish explaining himself, "Please Sam, it's not as bad as you think. You know they only kill the bad ones."
I still glared at him, I hated it when he called me Sam, you could say it was my personal weakness that Derek knew about, "Please Sammy?"
He grabbed my hands and I knew that I was about to give into him. And it bothered me how easily I dropped my guard around him. I stared into those beautiful green eyes of his and simply hoped for the best that could come out of this situation. The emotion in his eyes were raw and sincere. It bothered me that this kind of thing meant a lot to him.
"Samantha. We need the money, and I know that you don't like your job and that you've been thinking about quiting. Please let me do this Sammy. Please?"
I sighed. This freakin sucks; with a capital "S". Damn, I couldn't refuse it and he knew it. I looked at him and his eyes were sparkling, "Fine! Oh my god. Please remind me why I live here with you."
He smiled, his eerily sharp teeth gleaming in the room's fluorescent lighting, "Because you love me."
Of course I loved him. always have and prbably always will. Ain't that lovely? Being completely in love with your best friend, yet living under the same roof? No. I could tell you that there wasn't any part of this taht was lovely. Absolutely nothing. Suddenly, I felt his hands tighten around mine. This caused me to look up at him in confusion.
"What?"
He smiled again and I could feel my chest tightening up. Oh god. He really needed to stop doing that. "Thank you. I know you don't approve of this kind of thing but it's only for the bad guys."
I rolled my eyes. Sure, that's what they all say. He must have read my mind because he glared at me, "Samantha Lillian Gray."
s**t. I hated it when he used my full name, Because it was then when I knew that he was angered with me, "Yes?" I tried to play it cool instead of hypervenilate like I normally would have.
"You should know me better than that. And I mean WAY better than that. I am not one of your sick ex-boyfriends."
I looked at him, wishing I could believe him when I really didn't. It sucked because he was my best friend. And yes, vampires like myself were able to make friends and have a semi-normal life. I then rolled my eyes and snatched my hands away from his.
He looked at me slightly in shock, "Sam! What is wrong with you?!"
I probably snatched my hands away from his because of that sick ex-boyfriend comment. But I wasn't exactly sure. Maybe it was because I loved Derek too much that I couldn't bear any physical contact. But I wouldn't lie when I say that we was attractive. His custom styled blonde and black emo-hair. Oh yea, that was totally hot. His unusally pale skin, beautiful green eyes, and a sexy bod. Oh yea, I would definately tap that.
What killed me the most, were his peircings. Two snake bites on his lower lip, and one on his naval. Yes, I knew about his other peircing because he told me about it. and I knew about his tattoo. I knew what it looked like but I haven't actually seen it.
Wish I had though, because it was proably even more amazing on his body. I wonder where it was. I continued to ponder this while he continued talking to me. I looked over to him and saw that his lips were moving but no words were coming out.
Crap.
I hated it when I did that. Zoned out, ya know? Cause then I feel embarrassed when I asked him to repeat himself. I looked back at him again and noticed that his lips stopped moving and he was staring at me. Dang it. Was there something in my teeth? I doubted it since I never ate any food. Only blood, if you considered that eating.
You could tell if a person was a vampire or not by their eyes. The edges of the irises always give off a gold glow no matter the actual main color of the eyes. Vampires had a range of colors; red, gold, and green. Red is from drinking from the fleshies. The humans, you know? Um...gold was from driking from animals. Those vamps were known as vegies. And green was from driking from both human and animals. I guess the color was made from driking from both sources, but not feeding as often as you should. But I wasn't exactly sure.
"What were you saying?"
He sighed, "Sam Sam Sam." He shook his head. "When are you going to learn?"
Now I was confused, "Learn what?"
"You need to listen to people when they're talking to you. You're not exactly easy to approach and when people actually come to you, you push them away. But, I was saying that they want you to come with me to the induction ceremony. You know, to be a witness. Plus, the leader thinks your hot."
I blinked, "If that's the case...I'm not coming."
His jaw dropped, "Sammy..." He whined. "please?"
I growled, "Derek Alan James! Stop whining. Are you two or twenty-two."
He pouted, crossing his arms over his chest, "Twenty-two."
Yea, I think I forgot to mention that Derek was twenty-two while I was just seventeen. Yep, so my little crush was completely one-sideded. I wasn't even legal, but that didn't mean I couldn't think of him in a sexual way. Because I could. In vampire years I was 17. But in human years I must be around the age of my great-grandmother Anna. And she was alive during the James Town settlement, Yes, vampires were alive during the sixteen-hundreds. I think Grandma Anna was one hundred when she "died". She didn't officially die until the late 1900's.
Vampire family trees stretched for eons. So for a regular human, a vampire's great-grandmother would be like their gggggggggrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaattttttttt grandmother. Aren't I mature? I sounded like a three year old saying great all stretched out like that. Oh well. Welcome to my life.
