CHAPTER 2

"My feet are killing me!" I groaned. I'd been walking for weeks now. Afew miles from me was a little town. "Hmm i guess I should rest. Marcus will be hard enough to beat when I'm healthy, let alone sleepy"I ran into the town, looking for a farm. Finally i found a very large estate with a bunch of farms. I picked the one farthest away from the mansion. I climbed into the loft and layed in the hay. It was very late. Just when i was about to go to sleep, I heard some sounds outside of the window. Afew crackles and then a "SHHHH!". I leaned out the loft's window and saw two black girls, one tall and skinny and the other one short. probobally about six years old, tip-toeing away from the estate towards a very thick wood. "Oh no..." I thought to myself "This is a slave farm! Damn......"
"Hey! Psst! You two!" I called as quitley as I could. They turned and saw me up in the window. They made a very scared expression and took of into the forest. I jumped from the window onto the hard ground. "Owww...... I overestimated myself again..." I groaned. I took off into the forest after them. I don't know why I did that. Maybe because I was afraid they'd get caught. But it really wasn't like me to care that much about others. Especially slaves. But I did it. For whatever reason I chased them into the forest with shouts of "Wait!" and "Come back!"
I finally got close enough to see the youngest one trip and fall. I ran over and picked her up and followed the other one. The girl looked very frightened. She began to cry."Shh.... dont cry. It will be alright." She stopped. Then I heard the voice. "I think they went this way!" It called. It was so familiar.... But I quickly climbed up a tree to avoid being seen, with the little girl in my arms. The forest was so thick you could run from branch to branch to get to other trees. And thats what I did. I still needed to catch up with the other girl. Finally I caught up to her. I whispered down to her "Hey! You! You dropped something!" I held out her sister then pulled her back. "Quick! Climb the tree! Get up here." I whispered again. She did. She climbed up and sat next to us. She snatched her baby sister from me and put her on her lap. "I'm sorry I left you." The big sister said. The little girl just nodded. "SHH!" I said, putting my finger to my mouth. I could hear a horse coming.
"Woooooaaah there, big girl!" Came the same voice. Suddenly a large man in a cowboy's hat riding a horse appeared below.He stopped the horse. "Man I'm beat! Who cares if they escape? Anyway I'm only using this job to hide my identity and to make alittle pocket change to buy food once i vamoose!" He said. Then he chuckled. "He probobally thinks I'm dead! Man its hot!" He said as he removed his hat. I gasped. It was Marcus! "You know him?" Asked the older sister. I just nodded and told them to wait there. I followed Marcus as he turned around and headed back towards the farm, always staying in the trees. Once we were far enough away from the girls I took a kunai from my belt and tossed it at his horse's legs.The horse fell down in pain, sending Marcus flying into a tree. "What the-" He started to say but before he could finish i tossed another kunai at his head. Fortunatly for him, though, I missed and hit his arm. "OH!!!" He cried. "Daniel! Show yourself! I know its you!" He yelled. "Aww dammit!" I said as I jumped from the tree. He growled. I winked at him. I waltzed over to him and put my katana at his neck. "I will avenge my family! I will avenge my mother! I will avenge my pride!" I said. "Any last words, brother?!" He smiled then said "Why yes. ******** YOU!" He shouted as he did a leg swipe, knocking me to the ground. He jumped up and took out a katana of his own. He told me to get up. I did so. "Lets fight! Lets finish this! Right here! Right now!" He said, laughing. I swung my blade to his head. But his sword met mine. We pushed on each others sword, hoping one would fall back giving us enough time to hit the other. But he played dirty and kicked me back while we were doing that. It sent me back into a tree. He quickly followed up and tried to stab me right in the chest but i moved in the nick of time. He wound up digging his sword into the tree on accident. He couldnt pull it out. Eventually he gave up on that. He took off running. "OH NO YOU DON'T!!!" came a shout from the trees. The older black girl jumped from the trees onto Marcus. She knocked him to the ground. He took a kunai and slashed at her arm making a pretty deep cut and took off. As he ran he flipped us the bird until he was out of view.
"Oh my god...." I said as I ran over to tend to her wounds. I tore off the legs of my pants and wrapped them around her cut. She was probobally 10 so I could carry her back to her sister. I told the little girl to come with me. And we walked to the other closest town. We needed to get a doctor. Badly.
