**please keep in mind that every other chapter is in the other main characters point of view**
Sitting here in my room. Boring. There must be someone out there who can cure my hunger for that sweet, unique wine of my kind. Blood.
"No, stop please!" I hear an unfamiliar scream of a woman in the main room. "Now Jane, please. You have nothing to fear. Just relax, and I wont hurt you." The soothing voice of my brother answered my curiosity. I should've known he'd caught another human this week, especially those females. They don't know any better, fo easily fooled by his charms. He hasn't had a human in months, so the woman's shriek excites him, and doesn't surpirse me. I hear her mumber some other words, careless of what they are, and everything goes silent, except for the devlish grin on Erik's face and a minor laugh.
"You didn't kill her, did you?" Mary asked.
"Nah," Erik replied," She'll wake up in about two hours."
Mary and Erik are my brother and sister. Not exactly blood-related, but thats what we call ourselves, becase that's what we do. Filthy humans call us what you say, "blood suckers," "vampires," "human leeches," "parasites" - you get the idea. What they don't realize, is our sufferage. What do we go through? Well, I'll tell you. We can never love, we can never eat normal food, we don't dream, because we don't sleep, and a lot of other complicated things. Besides the point there, Erik and Mary are my only family and I care for them with every bit of human heart I have left, if that. Mary is twenty-three years old, but she was transformed at age nine, so that is her appearance. Erik is fifty-two years old, but transformed at the age of seventeen. He doesn't remember how he was transformed, but he transformed us. I guess he's more like a father to us, but he has the mind of a seventeen year old, so guess not. Me, I'm thirty-eight years old, which is pretty cool. The way our times work, our real ages, are still pretty young compared to most, like us that is. Thing is, we age so much differently than humans do. I may not look like a seventeen year old for the next thiry years. Or more. I'm so able to drive, and it isn't fair, but our secret must be kept.
There is another thing. I have this power, to sense a halfling - humans that are half black and half white. I think they call them 'mixed.' They have the power to do things, No. See things we can't see, or any other human. I don't know exactly what they see, and neither does Erik or Mary, but we know it's very important to us.
"Sky, Erik's doing it again!" Mary screamed from the main room. I got up from lying down on my bed and strolled over to the dimly lit room. I glared at Erik.
"I didn't kill her," he clamied, "She's just so good."
"What did we talk about?" I said.
"Please Sky, you act like you're the one that transformed me."
"Why must you use that against m, you immature twit?!" I yelled. "You have no sympathy for anyone!" I stomped off outside. The sun was so agonizing, and we can only stay out for so long, but Erik really made me mad.
I'd decided to go snooping for awhile. This heat is unbearable, as if I'd been walking for two hours, but I've only been out for two minutes. I pass by a house, parents are leaving. A small boy is walking dow the street with a bhandful of things, as if he were staying away for awhile. I sense another being. A halfling. She must know that I'm here, or does she. Well, whatever the occasion, I have to at least see her.
I sneak behind the bushes on the side of the house. The boy is still walking and the adults are pulling out of the driveway. I creep around the bush and slowly open the front door. Nobody sees me, and all is still. There is a stairway, and I take a glance, and the first step. A threatening creak arises from the step, and I ease off. I walk around the seemingly abandoned home, examining thses humans' treasures.
A trophy containment lies nobly in the next room. The beautiful paints on the trophies and shimmering gold on the plaques were blinding. I miss all of my human accomplishments. I still know how to play the violin, how the box slid gently across the wire string ever so nicely.
I heard a sound in the other room, and it had startled me. I tripped bringing down the trophy containment. I have to preserve these items! I wave my hand over the items so they wouldn't break, creating a familiar forcefield around every precious item. The case had created a large "CRASH!" sound, and I heard. I heard the human leaving a room, and trying to quietly come down the stairs. I had no choice but to leave, now.
I ran toward what seemed like a basement door. I was right. At first, I stood there, and I saw her. I saw her gorgeous brown eyes, dark hair, and lightly browned skin. I'd forgotten my task, and swiftly but silently fled down the stairs. The sudden darkness relaxed me, being what they call "vampire," I enjoyed it. I headed towards the door, and went outside. Too bad for me, for I love the darkness, but I had no choice. I leave her to her own self, for we will meet again. I was sure of that.
