Whale Hunting

In whale hunting, the whalers have no shame in how they kill the whales. It needs to be stopped forever because whales are on the verge of extinction. The more whales we kill the less we have for our zoos, parks, and whale watching tours. If we keep letting this happen then the whales will be outdated, just like the dinosaurs. If the whales die off then we won’t have them here to watch and learn about. The only thing that we will have is our memories, but those will soon fade and then what will our grandchildren do if there are no more tours or parks?

The sad thing about whaling is that the whale hunters have killed mothers and calves. If they killed the mothers too early and the calves were all alone, then the poor little calf would probably survive for a week. The calves would be eaten by sharks or starve. If they only killed the calves and couldn’t get the mothers, then the mothers would be very heartbroken. The mother would soon be killed too.
Some whales are on the endangered species list because the whalers are killing excessively many whales when they go hunting. If they cut back by 500 then possibly, the whales will stay with us longer. We need the whales more than we realize. Every year the number of whales that are endangered is increasing. That is not a good thing. If it keeps going up then they will not live to see the year 2015.

Some whales do suffer when hit with an exploding harpoon. The whalers don’t care if they suffer or not. All they want is the bodies to take home and chop them up to make their food. The whalers do not always kill them instantly. Some whales dodge the harpoons, but sometimes they are grazed by them and go out in the ocean to be eaten alive by hungry sharks that are drawn to the blood. It is very sad to think that we do this to them when they did not do anything to us first.

Whales are graceful creatures that do not deserve to become extinct, especially by our hands. What if you were a whale and the whalers killed your family? What would you do? Would you be scared? Yes, you would be scared for your life. You would be paranoid that the people would kill you next. They would too. They do not care if they kill moms or calves all they care about is their needs. Not the whales. If the whales die off then the food chain would be all messed up. No one could put it back on track. If that happens then what will happen to the rest of the animals? Or us? What is our future going to be like without the whales? Or any animal that we kill. We need to stop the madness before it can continue and destroy the whole world. I do not like whaling and never will. It needs to be stopped forever. Never to return to our lives ever again.



This is an eassy I wrote for school a year ago. I'm going to devote the rest of my life to stoping the whaling. It's not right and it's really cruel.
