When the rest of Takaya's underwater colony found out about Takaya, they went berserk. The merpeople were constantly trying to capture her and kill her for gold. Why? Because she is a rare mixed-breed. But of course, Takaya is too knowledgable for the other merpeople to catch her, let alone kill her. Takaya, Brough and May spent many moons in hinding. Some of the elders would even try to catch her. One night, one of the merpeople, known as Knite, a trustworthy friend of Takaya, found her and her parents hiding in an underwater cave. ''What are you doing here?'' Takaya whispered, afraid to wake her parents. ''I came to help.''
''Why do you risk your life for me? If you get caught, you would be killed.'' At that, a tear (oddly enough considering shes underwater) slithered down her face. ''I wouldn't want anything to happen to you.'' Knite looked up directly into Takaya's beautiful eyes. Slowly, so slowly, Knite leaned in and placed a soft kiss upon Takaya's ruby lips. He leaned back into the position he was in before. When suddenly, a loud crack sounded in the water. Then everything went black...
