Due to being caught in one heck of an ice storm and losing power for two days, >.> , I figured I'd start this off with a short series on things that are helpful to know when you're out of power! And I mean... what ELSE am I going to come up with and do with no power. blaugh
CANDLES!
I'm sure this is rather common knowledge, at least I hope it is. But if not, or for those of you not in on the loop, candles can be a life saver if used correctly when there are no power.
So stalk up. ^-~ (I love candles anyway. heart )
If you have enough candles burning, they act both as a source of light AND heat. One candle doesn't provide quite so much, but 10 candles can take the chill off the room. Mind you, you won't be all toasty warm with them, but you won't freeze quite so much. Then again, if you have 1000 candles burning, you'd probably get pretty warm, not to mention the higher risk of a house fire. Then you'd be toasty! xd
I would suggest attempting to have your candles for such a situation be either all one smell, or no smell at all. I was fortunate enough to have candles of all different smells and ended up getting quite sleepy and somewhat dizzy from the heady scent they leave behind all mixed together.
And ALWAYS remember to blow the candles out when you go to bed!!!!! You should be warm enough under 10 blankets or so, especially if you have someone to snuggle. 3nodding So get rid of that risk of house fire while you sleep and sleep safe. heart
From my mother to you, stay warm!
