“I wonder, I wonder,”
Spoke the cloud to the thunder,
“When comes the dawn?
When you are calm?”
“You have it all wrong, kind cloud,”
Spoke the thunder, mighty and proud,
“I do not dictate the dawn.
The dawn comes when it comes.”
“But... that makes no sense!”
Muttered the cloud, suddenly tense,
“You block out the sky!
The dawn has to comply!”
“The dawn is a sure event,”
Rumbled the thunder in dissent,
“It occurs regardless of I,
That, I cannot defy.”
“So the sun will rise,
No matter what covers its skies?”
Asked the cloud in wonder,
To the dying thunder.
“That is correct, kind cloud.
The sun is unbowed,”
Whispered the thunder, quieter than ever,
“No storm lasts forever.”
