The dark things were creeping, alive and thriving in the dank caverns beneath the sand. Skittering could be heard as they moved up the walls, on the ceiling, reveling in the dark and catching their prey by surprise. Meru shuddered, gripping her staff tightly in her right hand as she followed Bull down the narrow path. Feeling a hand on her shoulder, she turned her head just enough to see the Tevinter mage grinning down at her - she made a face back at him, hearing Varric chuckle at the rear.
"You know, they aren't going to go eating that pretty little head of yours."
"They might." The retort was accompanied by another grimace that wasn't exaggerated. The Inquisitor couldn't stand spiders and would rather bring the cave down around their heads than let any get close to her.
Another snicker reached her ears and she sighed. The noises around them were getting louder and Bull shifted his weight, great hammer glowing slightly with runes as he prepared to start swinging.
The elf sighed and let out a burst of light, shortly accompanied with a shriek and unprofessional explosion of flame to keep the wave of poisonous spider away from her. Dorian stayed behind her, not going to get his clothing singed, and flung ice spells of his own at the beasts.
"Having fun, boss? Don't go lighting me up!" Bull shouted over his shoulder, swinging his weapon back and forth, sending spiders flying left and right.
"Don't go tempting her!" An arrow pinned a creature to the wall, and then another, and then a third.
A fireball passed by suspiciously close to the Qunari Tal-Vashoth, who just grunted at the heat and made sure to hit the spider jumping at him into the ensuing flames. The entire nest was cleared out in a few minutes and Meru lit a few braziers that were on the walls now that nothing was going to crawl out at her.
"Anything shiny?" she asked, as Dorian and Varric looked around.
