For about two weeks now, I've been on that shift labeled as night shift, the hours betwee 11:00pm and 7:30am. It certainly is a different world. To go to sleep in daytime and to wake when the sun has set.

But I should start from a beginning. I've always been on second shift, 3:00pm to 11:30pm. For the last five years, I have lived with this split day. It had its perks and its downfalls, like any other shift. Recently, there was a change in management and my life as a normal person ended.

Now I find myself adjusting to a completely different lifestyle. There are no similarities between this new life and my old. I am home for dinner, a novelty for me, but one I can live with.

The adjustment is going fairly well and I can say that I do like the atmosphere around my place of work, a hospital, better at night. The pace is a bit slower and here, you can breath.

So while this wasn't my choice to start with, I have a good feeling that this is going to be a good thing. smile
