domokun domokun domokun So, Last Friday I finished my A-line Skirt. It's made of "white" muslin and looks pretty good! Size 8, fits my little sister well. She's my model, and is acutally gonna be a real model soon. So, my stitching on the hem was ....horrible but you cant even see it..unless you open your eyes. Just kidding but like, When you "stich-in-the-ditch" on the front of the skrit, I just could not get it to stay straight, so it looks like, waves. HAHAHA. I suck. But anyhoo, Its my birthday soon. 2 days. And Im pretty sure my mother got me a new sewing machine...YAAAY! So ill be able to work on my blouse at home.
Today I finished taping the computer-printed patterns together and cutting off the extra excess paper (for the blouse-bodice thingy). Tomorrow she will go over those with us and tell us what we have to mark and explain the markings already on there. Then I'll cut out the muslin and cut out the pieces!
Muslin..is...HAHAH so cheap apparently (depending on some factors) and its folded in half, to the edges with the se...le...uh....i forget the word for it but the tightly woven edges touch, and then wrapped around and around the "bolt". And that fold..is IMPOSSIBLE TO IRON OUT. And the threads are, not exactly even, and so you pull on the bias so that the threads are back in place and the corners line up evenly, but it takes sooooo damn long on this stretchy muslin! My teachers assures us that those will not (should not) be major problems like that when using "real" cloth, the one you use for your finished product and has the colors and print or whatever it has. Ima gonna have to go buy some for my end-of-the-year project...ooooh man running out of time. biggrin Finally, an Update!

domokun domokun domokun I finished all 9 samples on the sewing machines and pressed them all nice and neatly! Im so happy I beat everyone at my table AND I didn't cut my fingers off or sew through them when useing the Surger machine. It's one of them REALLY old ones. But its works reallly well and is really quiet. Really. I should have asked for the video on hand sewing to take home since its friday, but I gues i'll have to do it some other day. Then I'll have to work really hard, so I can concentrate on finishing my blanket over the weekend. YAY! I am NOT hungry. Bye.

domokun domokun domokun And it didnt hurt, i just felt it go in and stuff. Then i took the needle out..and..yeah it hurt later.
I got a dollar for making a crochet blanket for "workin hard" apparently from an elf, says grandma.
And...today i actually sewed stuff for turning in, and its not stupid. Thats good.
SO uninspired. Wait how do you spell that...

domokun domokun domokun So, I went shopping with my mom on saturday and we bought all new stuff, needles, threads, seam rippers and gauges, pins and pin cushions, tailors chalk!?, and lots of other stuffs. And I'm so excited about using allthis stuff...i never even heard of some of it. But thats ok...I put it all in my purple-painted box with blue "Cookin" on it...lol it was a gift from my Color Guard Captain during marching season. She mis-spelled cookiin..aww..XD I wrote in the missing "I" with blue tailors chalk. And then we went to the store next door and bought me a skein of purple and one of kinda pastel-rainbow colored yarn. We also bought a beginner's crochet kit, cause it has 6 needles in it and two large stitching needles and i've always wanted those..You know like you get in art in elem. school? I ve always loved those blue needles.. heart (Yesterday i also got black and white yarn) and I tryed to make a bird cage cover for my sweet birdie..but um...i realized i need much more yarn than i thought. HAHAHA SHUT UP. I'll go buy it..next week. MY mom got red and gold-colroed yarn for herself, and made my sister a skirt. I also got a black-and-red yarn, that was..um...not really yarn..but..its weird and hard to see all them stitches..but that's ok i'm makin a belt for my sister. And then I wanted to sew...cause i FINALLY got my machine going...(and noticed the main problem now is it's old..and the dog-thingies dont work) and i didnt have any of my new sewing stuff cause i have to leave it at the other school. Well. Fine.. I guess.. crying That's all! I'm happy ^_^!

domokun domokun domokun Except I didnt..heheheh. Got your attention though. biggrin Today I went through all four papers, sewing away trying to keep on the lines drawn on the papers. I re-did two of them, the Circle and the the mini-circles. I just like to have everything perfect. The first was just like 20-30 lines drawn the long-ways up and down, then the next had a spiral in the shape of a square (to teach us how to turn the "cloth" while keeping the needle in place in the "Cloth" wink , then a spiral in a Circle shape, and finally the last paper had six circles drawn on it. I did pretty well, I guess. Half the class was all "OOh my gosh im so scared of the machine! Ohh!" stare Ya, just wait till you get on teh Industrial machines...SO anyways...tomorrow we get the next lecture, and we'll use REAL cloth this time, and string. I spent the rest of class turning dials and making "button holes" in a paper. yeah didnt work out so great..hahaha..need real muslinssss!!

Sewing Machines! Finally! |

domokun domokun domokun Today we finally work on the Sewing machines! Today all we did was learn the names and parts of the machines. ^_^ Im so excited. This unit is mostly individual work, which means she will teach as the first person finishes a task, and the rest will catch up as they catch up. *sigh* But i have a feeling that I will be one of the first ones to finish and show her my work, and she'll find errors or things to improve and wont let me go on to the next task yet, even though if it was another person she'd let them go on in a heartbeat. You know cause she thinks just cause i've never taken an art class in school i have no idea how to draw, let alone color, and what? I dont own my own sewing machine or sew every weekend or afternoon? No, i dont know ANYTHING at all! Doesnt matter that my grand mother taught me how to sew and knit and use a machine since i moved here...i was 4..*rolls eyes*
And I have to buy a whole lotta crap.

domokun domokun domokun So I got to sleep in today for one hour! Then I did exactly as I do every school day, get droven to school (yeah i almost got an automatic F for being late), Walk in...try to get into the cafeteria (except this time i was looking for coke. AND IT WAS A DIFFERENT HIGH SCHOOL). So, I sees my teacher coming towards me and she says i look nice which i did, and i ask her where the vending machines are since i've never seen one but im sure there are plenty around ^_^. She points to a door labled VENDING and says its locked...And that there might might be some in the cafeteria. I stare at her in shock and ask "Are you sure? In the whole school?" She says "Yes, I've never seen any." I then inform her that at my school there is at LEAST a coke machine in EVERY hallway. And roaches.
And The cafeteria was also locked. They keep it locked, people. ALL DAY AND OPEN IT WHEN THE BELL RINGS. THEN LOCK IT WHEN THE NEXT BELL RINGS. My gosh...
So We went on our field trip to The Textile Museum in Washinton in Dupont Circle...i saw the embassies from Sudan, Luxemburg, Togo, Netherlands, Mauritania...and two more. We learned about the Paisley design..which was named that because they first mass-produced it with machines in a town called Paisley in ireland i think..or scottland i forget. But it's actually a BUTA. It's a plant. And we saw nothing but shawls. They were so BIG man. SO BIG. And so many damn TINY stitches. All hand-made. Then we learned about floral desings..then they gave us a baggie with 3 colored pencils and an activity sheet that we got to draw and color and a small yellow pencil and three colored sticker sheets. Then five minutes later we had to give them back the pencils...what the crazy...luckily i finished mine in time...><;; I was lucky cause the baggie they gave me the ziplock line was purple and I got a purple colored pencil and a purple sticker sheet.
Then we walked all the way in the cold cold cold to Toast and Strawberries..and weirdo tiny store that sells clothing and accessories and books...and had lunch there. We each took a fold-up seat and sat sushizume style in a small hallway. I ate my egg sandwhich I made last night and three cookies I burned last night. Then i realized i hadnt bought that coke and hadnt had anything to drink all day. Then we went and looekd aroudn at the clothes...OMG I was disgusted....most of it was ugly and freaky and...scary...i hated it. There was this one chinese dress that was pretty..that was it. ;-; i wanted to get out of there fast but then the owner lady had to talk but it turns out she wasnt there but her daughter was. And she talked for a minute then told us to ask her questions and that didnt go very well and whatever we had more time to look around and I kinda "got it" so i didnt hate it so much but..it seriously looked like sumthing out of my nightmares. Hideous. And tulae and ile know my nightmares are not something to wish upon your worst enemies. And we finally left. Walked alllllll the way back uphill in the cold cold cold. There was this one woman on tha street and she growled and barked at me. Then I saw a cute doggy fetching a tiny stick. Pomeranian or sumthing.
And Then I got back to the school at 1:30, came to stand outside at 1:50, at 2:10 i went back inside and wandered cause the kids had been let out and they all scared me, found the music wing, found it has it's own Coke machine and gatorade machine! Then I came back out at 2:30 or so and stood outside against the wall. Then ten minutes later I stood off the way and saw mommy parked right there. So i went in and asked if she'd been waiting long and she said two seconds. biggrin I am psychic...gets proven everyday.

domokun domokun domokun For Cotton, Silk, Linen, Wool, Microfibers, and polyesters. Yep. Cause you have to learn about stuffs...like silkworms like to eat leaves. I dunnohow many times she'd said "They're not really worms, they're caterpillars!" I dunno...fifty? Maybe a hundred.
But the point is i like it and will therefore sum time in the near future reasearch on possible careers dealing with textiles. Cause i need a job, man. I mean..if im going to college...Dont i need to study SOMETHING? Yes, So please stop askin me if im going to college. As of now, the answer is "no".
But i like makin' clothes. I cant waaaaiiiiiitttttt. Yeah. I keep thinking of the pink sparkle fairy. xd heart heart heart
