Aioria tried to duck behind a cluster of pink blossoms as his older brother passed under the tree, but luck seemed to be eternally against him today. First Milo had gotten caught sneaking out of the temple by his master, and now his master was about to catch him playing games instead of training. So much for the rebellion.
Aiolos pulled himself up onto the tree branch next to his younger brother and settled comfortably next to the boy. Aioria had the stance of someone who was trying very hard not to run screaming, and a petulant look in his face that read immediately as “bad day”. “So, what are we doing up here?” Aiolos asked conversationally.
“Meditating?” Aioria lied half-heartedly. He had always been a very poor liar, especially when it came to his older brother, and his eyes could not help but drift distantly towards the figures coming up the hill.
Aiolos wordlessly followed his younger brother's eyes, finding Saga and Kanon coming up the hill towards their favorite sakura tree with Angelo, apparently having escaped their own masters for the afternoon. Silently, Aiolos pulled himself onto a larger, higher branch and laid himself across it and two others to watch. “Too bad,” he mused, smiling to himself, “seems like a perfect place to ambush the enemy from up here. The two headed demon's bodyguard never looks up.” It was true, actually, one of Angelo's main flaws was that he never bothered to look up if his opponent disappeared in a fight.
Aioria's head shot up and he stared at the Gold Saint with jaw hanging open and green eyes wide. Aiolos feigned a yawn and laid his head on his folded arms. “Great place for meditating, too, though.”
“Nii-sama?” Aioria was still staring at his older brother. “It's... it's a two headed demon lord, but I think one head is good if we can cut the other one off.”
“Really now?” Aiolos peered curiously down at him, “I hadn't heard that before.” The trio was drawing steadily closer. Angelo and Kanon were obviously picking on Saga about something. “So if we save the good head then the demon king will tell his general to free your captive friend, right?” He had spotted the Scorpio Saint herding Milo back to their temple a few minutes ago.
Aioria nodded in earnest. Aiolos smiled to himself. “Then we'll just have to free him, won't we?” Closer, closer. They were almost under the tree now. Aiolos' voice dropped. “I'll take the two headed demon king, you take his crab monster. I think I know which head to cut off.”
Aioria nodded again, eyes alight with surprise and delight. He suddenly remembered why Aiolos was the greatest big brother in the world. Aiolos motioned for silence, then began to count down on his fingers. 3...
Saga looked up at the two hiding in the tree with a curious expression.
2...
'Play along,' Aiolos mouthed. Saga rolled his eyes.
1...
They pounched, Aioria letting out a war cry like the lion cub he was. Aiolos expertly slammed right into the middle of Kanon's chest and pushed him back into Saga, sending all three to the ground. Angelo let out an indignant shriek as Aioria managed to catch him completely off guard and send him to the ground.
“What in the hell are you doing, Aiolos?” Kanon snapped, trying to wriggle free of the smaller man.
“Freeing the demon king from your evil influence!” Aiolos crowed, all pride and honor completely forgotten as he drew a knife and mimed at cutting Kanon's head off.
“Just play along,” Saga whispered into his twin's ear, affection and exasperation mingling in his voice.
Kanon rolled his eyes and allowed Aiolos to toss his limp body aside. He landed next to Angelo, who was still screaming protests as Aioria was tying his hands and feet together. Kanon snickered, suddenly not feeling so bad about the state he was in.
“Have you come back to your senses, demon lord?” Aiolos asked. He was sitting on Saga's chest, grinning like the Cheshire Cat. The knife had been tossed aside somewhere, completely forgotten.
“My hero,” Saga said, his voice going high and lilting. Aiolos tried very hard not to laugh as Saga pushed him off his chest and swooned like a southern belle. “You've saved me! How can I ever repay you for finally ridding me of that awful demon?”
Aiolos shrugged, his Cheshire Cat grin morphing into that of a silly, lovestruck school boy. “How 'bout a kiss?”
Saga smiled demurely, a look that most definitely did not suit the Gemini heir, and pressed a quick kiss to Aiolos' lips.
Aioria rolled his eyes and gagged. Even if Aiolos was the greatest big brother on the planet, he was still embarrassing to be around at times. Kanon, who was making a gagging noise between peels of laughter, obviously agreed.
~*~Seven Years Later~*~
Aioria gazed up at the blooming sakura tree, not entirely surprised to see a familiar little red haired figure sitting in the branches with a petulant look on her face. He pulled himself up on the branch to sit next to her.
“I could have sworn Shaka told you to practice your meditations,” Aioria mused. Elektra gave a startled squeak and nearly fell off the branch.
“Who says I'm not meditating?” she asked, green eyes flaring in irritating. Aioria would never say it out loud, but Elektra was the only person he had ever met that was worse at lying than he was. He ignored it, however, when he saw two familiar figures coming over the ridge towards the sakura tree.
Aioria smiled and gazed affectionately at his younger sister. He rarely got to spend time with her, busy as he was training his own student, and Shaka rarely, if ever, let her have any amount of free time. She gave him a suspicious glare. “You know,” he gestured to the approaching duo. “Saga used to be a two headed demon.”
Elektra gave him a flat look that had been known to send full grown men scurrying. “And what happened to the other head?” she asked with an 'okay, I'll bite.' tone that she had definitely learned from her master.
Ten minutes later, Saga had barely caught sight of the two figures perched in the tree before he and Deathmask were unceremoniously tackled to the ground by a pair of flying siblings. He obligingly let Elektra pin him to the ground, crowing something about not letting the evil demon take over him again while Deathmask began cursing and screaming for Aioria to let go of him or he was going to Shikishki his a**.
Aioria put him to silence with a kiss. Elektra sat on Saga's chest, glaring bemusedly at her big brother. “Are all big brothers as crazy as him?” she asked. Saga just shrugged and nodded. “Still the greatest big brother in the world, though,” she decided after a moment's thought.
