Well, here I sit nearly three weeks after being hit by a drunk driver. My doctor won't see me because I was hit by a drunk, and that's more paperwork than he's interested in, and the only doctor that would see me directed me toward a chiropractor who has somehow managed to damage a nerve in my leg, so now I'm in excruciating pain 24 hours a day.

My family promised to help me out getting back on my feet again, but by day three after the accident, they lost all interest, and figured that I should have been fine by now. The last doctor prescribed me pills, but if I take 'em, I can't drive, and if I can't drive, I can't make it to my doctor's appointments. My lawyer, meanwhile, has opted to wait out the insurance company, deciding that the best course of action is to literally do nothing, thinking that eventually the insurance company will come begging just to be able to pay out and put the whole thing behind 'em, meanwhile I'm already getting collection letters from the hospital, the chiropractor, and the place my car got towed to, because my lawyer blocked me from getting it declared totaled, so it's sitting at a lot, racking up storage fees, and I'm driving around in an 80's model car that barely runs, because the only other option is to be stuck relying on a bus line that somehow doesn't have a single stop within a mile of any hospital, doctor's office, lawyer's office or grocery store, and hiking just isn't an option with my leg in the state it's in.

Y'know, that's the problem with being the guy everyone relies on: When something goes wrong and you need help, you're on your own.
