RE: Gaia Bucket List
Inspired by the latest featured forum topic about Gaia-centric bucket lists, I decided to sit down and write out my own bucket list of things I would like to accomplish before I 'retire' from Gaia once and for all (if I ever truly retire in the first place).

THE LIST:

- BE PASSIONATE ABOUT QUESTING once more

Once upon a time, when I was Questing for my OMG hat, I was as passionate about Questing as I was dedicated. Not only did I log in faithful hours to my cause but I also maintained an enthusiasm that lasted me from start to finish. Regardless of how well or how poorly I was coming along in my Quest, I was cheering myself on. Even if nobody else was excited about my Quest, I certainly was and that enthusiasm was more than enough to help buoy me along.

Nowadays, whether it's because things have simply changed on Gaia and I'm (still) having trouble adjusting to the changes or because I'm simply feeling my (real) age or feeling - for lack of a better description - Gaia-related blues, I don't seem to have that passion for Questing anymore regardless of how much I like the item in question.

If I were to retire from Gaia, I would love to be able to leave knowing that I had a blast going Questing and so that is why this is on my bucket list.

- OPEN UP AN ART SHOP and stick to it

On a different account, I played cheerleader for a few Questing Gaians and to show my support, I created Questing signs for some of them. Owing to their unexpected popularity, there came a demand for custom-made signs and for a brief period of time, I opened up a small mini shop.

As I took a hiatus from Gaia shortly afterwards and thus closed the shop soon after opening it, I never got to see exactly how far I could go with it. Now that I'm back on Gaia, I would love to see what would happen if I opened up the shop once more and that is why it is on my bucket list.

- CATCH ALL THE RARE BUGS IN TOWNS

I've caught two Demonflies and none of anything else in relation to the rare bugs and I would love to catch - or at least see with my own eyes - each of the rare bugs at least once.

- ENCOUNTER ALL THE CHANCE ITEMS available on the site

I've encountered quite a few, but not all. I'd love to be able to say that I've been there and done that for all of the chance items that randomly appear on the site.

So far, I have encountered pink links, pink flying boxes, wooden trunks, fat cat alert, and Lucky Chests.

What I have left to encounter are flying blue boxes and flying brown boxes.

- PULL SOMETHING GOOD FROM THE DAILY CHANCE

This isn't to say that I've never pulled anything of worth from the Daily Chance, but I've been a regular Daily Chance-er ever since it was first implemented on the site and it would be awesome if I could pull from it something that I could make good use of that wasn't a bottle of ink, bugs, trash, or girl's clothing articles.

- HAVE GOOD LUCK ON A RIG

It has been established by my long-standing history with RIGs that me and RIGs generally Do Not Get Along Very Well.

It would really make my day if I could, for once, pull one of the 'best' items out of a RIG that I spent actual money on to help support Gaia.

SOME THOUGHTS:

If everything on the list sounds a bit selfish it is because they ARE, for the most part, selfish desires.

As odd as it sounds, during my 7+ years here at Gaia, I have actually spent more time donating - gold, items, and money - to others - either to other Gaians or to Gaia itself - and helping other people out on their Quests than Questing for things for myself. When it came to things like Daily Chance or lotteries and then later on, RIGs, I never really gave a hoot about what I managed to snag.

While the greater majority of my attitude stemmed from my feelings about Gaia (read my About Me for that story) and the community that surrounded it (especially during the older times), some of the attitude also stemmed from a lack of urgency. Putting myself back 10,000 gold to help someone else out on their Quest for example wasn't a big deal because I had plenty of time to make up for it.

But that was then (when inflation wasn't so bad and the market moved at a correspondingly slower pace) and now is now (where inflation is incredible and the market is steamrolling right along) and... well.

When prompted to think about things that I would like to do before kicking the proverbial Gaia-related bucket... I am forced to realize that time on Gaia - either my own time or Gaia's time - is neither endless nor forever and that if there was ever anything I intended to do before 'retiring' then I should probably get started before it's too late.

That said, my bucket list - for the most part - represents aspects of Gaia that I either never got around to fully experiencing (keeping an art shop open) or never thought too much on (what items I got from RIGs or other Chance items) and where I don't necessarily expect to accomplish everything on my list, I very much intend to try.

Bucket list or no bucket list, it isn't the destination or end goal that matters most; it is the journey and experience itself and what you make of it.
