The "legalize it" campaign needs a caveat. Marijuana isn't the worst thing ever, but it isn't a wonder drug either. Getting kind of tired of users who think that there is no such thing as too much.
I've never tried marijuana. Don't care to, either; I'm straight edge because I enjoy being sober and aware of my surroundings (when I need to drown my sorrows, I go for soda and junk food). But I don't fret over what other people do with their own lives and bodies. I like my soda and junk food- others like their weed.
That said... the movement to legalize marijuana has no sense of moderation. Somebody mention to the drug's power users that they are no better than alcoholics. Whenever anything is wrong, they go for their weed. It messes with their personalities, making them paranoid and more depressed than they realize when it isn't making them artificially thrilled with every little thing. They go through phases during which they eat all the food in the kitchen; it's kind of gross, the *constant* cooking and eating. And they are so busy being high, they don't do much else.
Seriously, man... it should be legal for various reasons, but marijuana is just another narcotic. Nothing more. In the end, it can destroy minds and lives as easily as any other addictive habit. The movement needs to acknowledge that.
