Black Lab
I'm the black lab, making it through the three dog nights.
The day might be tough, but life's my real fight.
You avoid me when I say hi and keep me out your sight.
I roam around for hours searching for the light.
Trying to find somewhere, where I can sleep with comfort.
Surviving is the one place where I’m an expert.
When I come around you, you stay alert.
I’m not dangerous; I’m just filled inside with hurt.
You don’t have to smile just stay for a while.
I’m actually pretty nice, but you treat me like a juvenile.
Just because I keep a tough face doesn’t mean I’m not fragile.
This world is great to you but for me it’s vile.
I’ve never actually been a child.
When you grow up quick your life is very wild
All my troubles are now stacked and piled.
The road I walk on is of rocks and not tiled.
Behind this cage I can never be freed.
I scratch my paws and start to bleed.
In this world nobody wants me; they just want things of greed.
Tonight I’ll go to sleep and release life’s need.
