This entry is dedicated to Miep Gies, who passed away today, at 100, due to a neck injury sustained when falling down last month. Miep is the last surviving "helper" of the Frank and Van Pels family. During the Holocaust, she helped hide them in the attic of an office building before they were found and arrested by Nazis. Before the Nazis returned, she found Anne's diary, scattered about the floor, gathered it up and hid it. She didn't read the diary, until, assured by Otto Frank ( the only surviving person who hid in the Annex) that Anne had died. Because of her, we have The Diary of Anne Frank. She was a vastly important figure in history, and may she rest in peace.
