I can't..." I muttered, walking slowly forward, each time I took a step forward he would take a step back. "You have to! I'm not what you think I am!" He yelled at me, back up against a tree now. He looked as if he were to cry, but couldn't. "Stay, away." His voice was just as glorious as when he was trying to calm me down, but yet, it sounded like he was trying to hide something from, not just me, but the whole world. "Taylor..." I sighed, blinking back tears. "I know what you are." He shook his head. "No! Dammit, no you don't!" He growled trough clenched teeth, his jaw tight. "I know what you are to me." I said, taking another step forward. I was only one step away from being able to touch him now. I took the one step, as slowly as I could manage. "No, Jaymie, don't. Don't do this!" He shut his eyes as I came close and held out my hand to his arm. My fingers touched his smooth skin, going down his vein, and back up. With out even a sign of movement he had me pinned, my back now against the tree he was just leaning on. "Jaymie, listen..." He began. His eyes were silvery, like the full moon shining on Crescent Lake in the middle of spring. And yet, they were soft and gentle, searching mine. "I love you, and that’s why we can't be together. It’s dangerous. I'm not... I'm not human, Jaymie." Taylor's eyes dropped to the ground, though his iron strong hands held my wrists by my side. "I knew that. The way your eyes are shine like a brand new nickel, that’s how silver they are. Your strength, speed, and your beauty..." I looked down, feeling the blood rushing to my cheeks, making flush a light pink. "Do you know what I am?" He asked his voice tight with stress. "No." "For over a hundred years I've lived with other races, and the humans. But I had to keep my secret from every single human, otherwise it could be dangerous." He sounded as if he were starting to mumble to himself. "And here I go, about to tell you it." He shook his head, looking like he was disappointed at himself. Finally, we looked in to each other’s eyes. "Jaymie, I'm a Guardian Angel. But I have an assignment. To keep you alive and protected." He sighed. "But there's a reason why. You know Cam, right?" He asked. "Yeah... Why?" "Cam is a bad soul. And he's trying to get you to come with him when he destroys the human race." I cold chill ran up and down my spine. "Why?" That was all I could get out. He took me in to his arms and held me close, trying to comfort me. "He wants the bad souls to rule over the world." His voice was soft, soothing, and gentle. "I won't let him hurt you. I swear!" He was trembling, while he spoke in to my hair. "I won't let anything hurt you." He truly sounded as if he were going to cry. "I love you, Jaymie. I know you love Cam too, but you can't trust him." Tears started streaming down my face, and a weird ripping sound was coming from deep inside my chest. "Shh. Jaymie, it’s alright, sweetheart." He soothed me again as the noise came out louder now. "Come on, let’s get you home." But with out waiting for an answer he swept me in to his arms and carried me down the small forest trail that led to my house. ***Taylor led me to my house, putting a comforting arm around my waist. "It’s okay Jaymie. I swear to you, its going to be alright. Just calm down, alright?" He kissed the top of my head as I nodded. At least the noise stopped, that was good. "I can handle it from here..." I whispered, though I knew he would be able to hear me. "No, its alright. You can barely stand." He insisted. Were on the porch, standing in front of the screen door. The door was open, so anything said would probably be heard by my dad. Dad. "What about my dad?" "He's fine." "No, I meant what am I going to tell him about you?" "What ever you want." He shrugged, taking my hand. "If fine with anything." I just nodded, opening the screen door and walking through. "H-hey Dad! I'm home." I stammered. I tried to stand up on my own, or at least take some of my weight off Taylor. "Hey, there, kiddo..." He looked at Taylor, with confusion in his eyes. "Dad, this is Taylor." I looked up at him, but he was looking at my dad. "Hello, sir." He held out his hand toward my dad. "Please, call me John." He shook Taylor's hand and let go. My dad still had a confusing look, but I just looked at Taylor. "We'll be in my room." I told him as he left for the kitchen. "I'll be leaving in a second, if you kids wanted the living room." He was making a sandwich, which meant he was going fishing. "Need any help?" I let go of Taylor, luckily I was able to stand on my own. I walked in to the kitchen, Taylor was holding my shoulder. "Nope. I'm done." He smiled at me, his emerald eyes shining. "Bye, kids. Have fun." He hugged me once, with one arm, he was carrying an ice chest with the other, and shook Taylor's hand again. Once he left, I grabbed us waters and we sat on the living room sofa. "Tell me more about Cam." I said, after taking a drink of my water. "Well, like I said, Cam is trying to kill you." He flinched at the words, and I could see many emotions in his gorgeous silver eyes. "The only way for you to join him, is if he got you alone and sucked your soul out." This time I flinched. "He really does love you, that’s why he wants to kill you."*** ***"But why kill me, if he loves me?" He took a deep breath, like he was wondering what he should tell me. "I'll start from the very beginning." He told me. "Jaymie, not only humans live in this world. There's vampires, shapeshifters, witches, wereanimals, supernatural ability users, demons, angels, anything you can think of. Cam is a Demon Angel. Demon Angels want to wipe out the human race so they control earth, and everyone else is trying to stop them. Cam doesn't only want you because he loves you. Jaymie, you have a supernatural ability that could help the Demon Angels rule. With out even knowing it, you could destroy anyone. You have no control over your power yet, which is why I'm going to train you." He smiled once he was done. "Oh, what month were you born in?" He asked, looking completely serious and business-like. "August." I said simply. "Why?" "I'll tell you later. Let’s go." I didn't ask anymore question, I knew he wouldn't tell me now. We got in my car, and he drove extremely fast. "We're going to go see a witch. One of my best friends." He told me once we got there. He got out and walked over to my door, and opened it for me. I smiled and blushed a little. "Alana?" He called once inside the door. The shop was dimly lit, and it smelled of oak, pine, sap, honey, maple, and very musky too. "Taylor!" She beamed when she caught site of us. "And who might this be?" Alana was very beautiful. Her long dark brown hair going past her hips, and her eyes were outstanding. The color of dark blue sapphire, and the way the light hit her made her look like an angel. "This is Jaymie." Taylor said. "Hello, Jaymie." She smiled. "I'm Alana. What can I get for you?" She asked looking back at Taylor. "We need a ring to control her power." "What month?" She asked, turning away to go back behind the counter. "August." Taylor and I said together, and all three of us laughed. "Well, take a look at these and tell me which you like, and we can fit the ring to your size." She smiled and went to the back of the store. There were lots of rings with my birthstone. Some lighter than others and little more dark. Small, big, medium. But only one caught my attention. A small sized heart shaped ring. It had a gold band and three tiny little diamonds on each side of the heart. The heart its self was gorgeous. It was a lighter shade, but bright. "I like this one." I pointed it out to Taylor and looked at him. "Me too. I could imagine it on your finger." We both nodded and Alana came back and sized it. "It'll be done in just another minuet." "Oh, Alana, could we see all your rings?" Alana nodded and took out three cases of rings. "Choose any one you like. No matter was gem." Taylor told me. I looked carefully through all the cases looking at each one with concentration. Finally I picked one up. It was small, just like the first ring, but it the band was white gold. In the middle was a heart shaped diamond. "That one?" He asked, looking at it. "Good choice." He smiled. He took the ring and set it on the counter. "Alana, we have another picked out." He told her. "We'll be right back."
