stressed Oh I am so tired. I spent the last half hour or so just writing a wee story...no idea where I'm going with it but thought I'd put it in my journal anyway. I know you're supposed to put it in the Arena but I want to do that once I've done more of it...at least finished a chapter anyway...

Here it is:

Hiya Noah, I don’t know if your remember me or not, but we met at Natalie’s Christmas party and you gave me this address. You were a bit drunk that night, in fact so was I come to think of it (I don’t think those shots were a good idea!) so if you’re reading this thinking “Who the hell is this chick?!” then I won’t take offence!

Hope you had a good New Year,

Olivia x

Once again it was a new day and a new year. Olivia started it in typical fashion…that is to say drunk and sobbing on her doorstep because she couldn’t fit the key in the lock. She bawled and bawled about how her life was in tatters, moving from one sordid fling to the next, and how all she desired more than anything in the world was for her to get through her front door and pass out on the nearest surface (on these occasions she particularly favored the floor for it’s convenience and reliability), but the universe couldn’t even grant her that.
“The Universe is out to get me!” She bawled, “Curse you, Universe! Curse you to hell and back!”
Eventually her elderly next door neighbor took pity on her, and hobbled out of his front door at five in the morning to point out that “Dear…you aren’t going to get into your house by using your car keys…” and so began her new year.
The next day, however, a raging hangover was brewing beneath the surface, waiting to strike at any moment, and when it eventually did have the courtesy to reveal itself in all its ferociousness, she swore to herself - as she had done the year before that, and the year before that and the one before that – that this year would be different. This year she was going to be Happy-go-lucky-always-on-time-not-a-care-in-the-world-super-duper Olive Moreno who loves socializing and dinner dates and other such fluttering fancies. She also decided that she would have a break from dating, and instead would prove to herself that she could be friends with the male species without it resulting in any knicker-dropping activities. The criteria for said male would be: good looking (to make it a challenge), intelligent (for in-depth conversations about literature and the meaning of life), funny (well…who wants to be friends with somebody boring?) and he would also have to be straight (because if he wasn’t then that would be like cheating).

“Two weeks…maybe less. I see you’ve lost weight? Impressive…especially over the holidays…yes definitely less than two weeks.”
This was Olivia’s closest friend – the ever supporting Natalie.
“Two weeks until what, exactly?”
“Until you’ve shagged and bagged him,” she said bluntly.
“Natalie! You’re terrible. Do you not have faith in me?” Olivia laughed.
“I have every faith in you hen, every faith that you drop your undies the first chance you get!” Natalie picked up Olivia’s glass of wine and took a sip.
“You’re pregnant Natalie…”
“Oh ******** so I am,” she said as she tried to surreptitiously spit the wine back into the glass.
“I was going to drink that!” spluttered Olivia, outraged by a waste of perfectly good wine.
“You’re a borderline alcoholic, I’m doing you a flavor,” Natalie said as she tucked into her sirloin steak which the waiter had just put down moments before.
“Oh I’m so honored that you put me first like that,” Olivia retorted, her voice oozing with disdain.
She watched as Natalie began devouring her food as though she hadn’t encountered such a wonder before.
“You’re going to make yourself sick eating like that. And should you be having your steak as rare as that when you’re pregnant?”
Natalie waved a hand as if swatting away Olivia’s comments.
“I’ve given up drink for the thing, what more can it ask for?” She answered once she had finally finished chewing, “it’s not even here yet and it’s already making demands.”
“Your child is so lucky to have you as a mother…”
“I noticed that sarcastic tone…”
“Good, because I wasn’t trying to cover it up!” Olivia laughed, “How long to go now?”
“Three months! Can you believe it?”

Anyway that's it for now, let me know what you think...if anyone reads it that is! Lol.

R x
