Black ashes fall from above
They sit there in wonder as they gently hit the ground
Curiosity filling their peaceful minds
Making their oblivious state fade with the passing time
The ground starts to tremble,
Shivering like a child in the cold.
They sit there, paralyzed,
Consumed completely by fear.
Black smoke rises into the air
Making it harder to breathe
Flames bursting into life
Dancing around and taunting playfully
The once beautiful blue sky
Was soon tainted with shades of maroon
Tearing at their innocence
Leaving them vulnerable
They were soon possessed by control
In the hands of another force
They kick and scream with all their might
But soon realize it’s a never-ending fight
Exhausted, broken,
Beaten and burned.
Vengeful, angry,
Sad and torn.
It was then at that moment that they realized
That they were just children
Underneath a falling sky…
