CH 5 P 4
Even several hours of walking hadn’t been enough to settle Etlin down. She ran around and played with Buddy as the trudged through the forest.
“Well,” Kira looked up at the darkening sky, “Time to make camp.” She looked at Etlin, “You wanna fly with me to find a place?”
“Oh, yes,” Etlin spread her arms, then her wings as wide as they would go and jumped into the air. Kira followed, then they were soaring over the forest, Luke in hot persuit on the ground.
“That looks like a good spot,” Kira pionted down at a small clearing and flew lower to land.
Etlin followed a little too overenthusiastically, and crashed into Kira as they landed.
“Sorry,” Etlin untangled herself from Kira’s wings, “I don’t get to fly very often.”
“It’s okay,” Kira slowly got on her feet and looked around.
Then, Luke came crashing into the clearing. Kira looked over at him, “Well, Luke, what do ya think?”
“Looks good,” Luke wheezed. He dropped his bags with a heavy thump and flopped down on them. “I’ll be asleep if you need me.” Buddy then staggered into the clearing and flopped down next to his master.
“I don’t think we’re getting any help from those two,” Kira laughed as she emptied her pack on the ground.
