The Story the World

A disturbing memory that none may comprehend
A story of courageous souls that will never fully mend
Life was one big peaceful game
Until something had the rules slain
Everything was full of light and hope
But this new twist, left reason to mope
Once upon a time life was all light
But then the darkness came with its plight
Some warriors fought hard with their shining amour and protective mail
Though in the end, they knew none would prevail
The darkness swallowed the last strands of light
Nothing left but a diseased plight
The contaminants it carried spread across the land
Until all that was left was vast, barren, wasteland
The glory it carried before
Never would truly be restored
But hope was still left hidden in an abyss
An abyss of darkness where anything could miss
Down into the depths if you look hard enough
It starts to show strong and tough
A light of pure measures we see in the dark
It glows slightly and leaves the mark
The mark of a true light, one that never burns out
Even in the darkest of hours there is no need to shout
A light will protect, no matter how bad it is
For it was put there to keep you off the list
The list of eternal darkness, that shows no mercy
Even if you look the devil himself in the eye and curtsy
It sucks your soul bit by bit until nothing is left but a shell
A shell of your body left behind to tell
That life needs a light that never goes out
And we shouldn't look at life and pout
Now back to the plague, which was described before
It took out many who did adore
The light that kept them strong
And kept their lives long
It swept them away like a pebble in a current of water
It took them out during an endless slaughter
Until the only light that was left remained in children's hearts
Where they believed in childish dreams that had adventurous parts
Together they stood and watched the stars
As one by one they veered away like cars
Finally they held their hands together and made one simple wish
That eventually the human race would survive this
Their wish came true, but at a deadly cost
Each one of their lives was lost
The light in their hearts joined together leaving their bodies behind
But their spirits ascended as one of a kind
The dark people left, suddenly lost that darkness
And their lights returned but left an awkwardness
The sorrow of losing the love of children and friends
Something the world could never mend
Fights broke out on all for the blame
But it was everyone’s fault not one name
It lasted long, centuries...millennia
And drove some into strange anoia
There was war, destruction, and terror
And sometimes craze-driven massacres, they were rarer
It blinded them, and started a trend
A trend that eventually wrought the Seven Deadly Sins
Lust, Envy, Wrath, Gluttony,
Sloth, Greed, and Vanity
It blinded them, from seeing the truth
And they were for sure kept uncouth
And when there was unstable peace
People were boring and the same, on a leash
A leash formed by dictators and a totalarian society
It kept them all in line, none could resist, not even the mighty
Then when those peacetimes subsided
The boring sheeple changed and the barbarian within, ignited
But one day, the sins slipped away
Why? No one can really say
Maybe the heart of the world couldn't stand it anymore
Or, perhaps, thought the ones left behind had learned enough dark lore
Fragments of the lives they had before suddenly flashed in their eyes
Everyone fell to the ground and began to cry
Crying for forgiveness and love again
The darkness faded from every man
Peace resided once upon a time
But once again we have lost our light
Wars break out here and there people fight
All of us kids try to raise our lights
Praying for hope and returned rights
But the darkness closes in on us all
One by one us kids fall
Only few of us remain unpoisened by the plague
The plague of death and darkness in this deadly game of tag
We need to raise ourselves above this barrier
We can't be helpless like a baby in their carrier
Why can’t we resist
Are we blinded by this sin-driven mist
Truth be told there might not be any light left
It could’ve been stolen, high theft
Maybe the darkness has poisoned us all
Would we still turn away if we heard the light’s call
Who knows, a person’s true self remains an empty mystery
Though sometimes, we hope so, so we can return to that wonderful history
That history of light, that eventually faded into the dark
We would go back and be as happy as a lark
But we fell from that position long ago
There’s no turning back it was our choice to go
Once upon a time life was all light
But then the darkness came with its plight...
