Rose sat in silence on her bed in the Ravenclaw girls' dormatory.
'This year shouldn't be any different than the last. I'll just wander around in silence as everyone around me catches the excitement. For me, there is no excitement.' she thought.
Rose slowly stood and left the dormatory. She seemed to glide as she decended the stairs, such grace that went unnoticed...
As she left the common rooms, she bumped into another student.
"Watch where you're going, Rose!" the sixth year scolded as he passed her.
"Sorry..." she said softly.
When she reached the Great Hall, it was bustling with talk of summer and Quiditch and all things that were pleasant.
Rose passed the Hufflepuff table quietly, although a few girls greeted her.
"Not too friendly is she?" one girl asked another.
"No...she never has been on the social side." replied the other.
Rose eyed Malfoy as she passed the Slytherin table. He was crude and arrogant, this she knew. She had heard plenty of his plots against Harry Potter, a famed Gryffindor she'd never met.
When Rose approached the Gryffindor table, she felt the rush of a cheery aura.
"Hello, Rose!" came in unison the voices of Fred and George Weasley.
"H-Hello..." she replied in a timid tone.
"Look, we know that you're a Ravenclaw, but why don't you take a seat at our table for a bit today?" they offered.
To Rose, this sounded so wonderful. No one had ever offered to socialize with her. Everyone tended to think she didn't want friends, since she appeared to be so solitary.
Nervously, she nodded in agreement and took a seat across from Fred and George.
"Have a good summer?" Fred asked.
"I suppose..." she said, smiling slightly.
"Good." Fred smiled in return.
"Say, have you met Harry yet?" George questioned.
Rose's eyes widened. For a moment, she had forgotten that she was sitting at the Gryffindor table, had forgottten that Harry Potter was a Gryffindor.
"H-Harry Potter?" she finally said.
"Yeah, him." George pointed to the person sitting next to Rose.
'Oh my God, he's sitting next to me?' she thought.
"Hey, Harry! You've got to meet someone." Fred reached across the table and poked Harry's shoulder.
"Huh?" replied Harry, turning in his seat to face Rose.
Rose blushed intensely. She had heard so much of him. Everyone knew about Harry Potter. But she never thought she would meet him...
