The 3nix Project.
Funded by its namesake, the aim of the 3nix Project was to make people into vessels of video-game characters. What would transpire if the project was a success was left in the dark.
The details concerning the prototypes were quite detailed and precise. There would be eight in number, all Final Final Fantasy characters, both heroes and villains. The villains would be numbered as odd numbers while heroes were even numbers, with the first letter of each term capitalized to denote the type.
As is nearly always the case in these stories, no one really cared about the subjects. Or their feelings in regard to their treatment as lab rats and having a second personality thrust forcefully upon them without their consent.
If they had given it some thought, perhaps a great many problems could have been avoided.
But as Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, said...
"What a piece of work is man!"
