She gave in again. But it's no surprise to anyone. Not to the other angels that stood higher than she, nor to the people that looked up to catch a glimpse. She was the lie that spread. The barricade that took down the faith of man. She was the evil that tormented her dreams. She gave in again. But that's no surprise to anyone. Her Halo was cheap and of a metal you'd give a child, it wasn't the precious gold or silver people prized anymore, just a cheap metallic ring that stood above her head. It stripped her of her higher image, and instead made her look a fool. It was her brand. Her wings now just put on with bits of string rather than immersing from her body no longer flapped with pride. Her gown was torn and home made. Like a Halloween costume. Her eyes never looked up. She knew the burning shame. She was not the angel. She was like everyone else. She looked up to see the other angels, and to her surprise their wings and halos were just the same as hers. Not some higher archy. She was just like everyone else. She was fake. But they pointed her out. They mocked her. They tore her wings and tossed her halo. They made her a nothing. She watched once more. Her eyes went blind for a moment as something bright flashed behind her in her dark pit of isolation. She turned and it was not behind her. She looked up, a smile pursed her lips. Her cardboard wings were tossed aside, her back burned a moment. And to her surprise two wings had embraced her. She was an angel, whom had fallen. Her wings were not real because she let the lies get to her. She wasn't the lie. She was the liar. She lied to herself. And for which she dug her own pit of isolation. But now her wings are in place and her halo glows bright. She was the lucky few. She saw other people in pits of isolation, but it was only she who could dig herself out. Others spend a lifetime searching rather than just accepting the truth. She did not return to the cloud. Instead, she walked around with everyone else. They might have found flaw in her, but it was nothing like the flaw she had found in herself. She held herself high, and content. And walked to a place she didn't know. A few heads turned, a tear ran down her cheek and she smiled.
