The damage had already been done, and couldn't be repaired.
What I did was to route her memory through part of her brain that showed no activity.
While I had never before been interested in medical spells (That had been Edward's favorite subject) the areas of the brain that seemed to be underdeveloped were fascinating. It made me wonder about the seat of the soul.
There is something called the wizard's fascination, or the caster's ruin. Before this I had read about it, but nowhere did it say what it is, so I will write it quite plainly here:
Sometimes a magic user gets so caught up in the spell they have cast, they forget why they cast it. With scrying spells especaily, it can trap them inside the spell for days on end as they explore it, ruining their body as they taste the magic.
I was lucky, I awoke from the fascination just before dawn.
I even managed to get some sleep before Lucy awoke, cheerily refreshed from her escorcled sleep, and ready to face the day.
I managed to pass off my exhaustion as just sleeping poorly, on the floor, becasueas a gentleman I had given her my bed when she had fallen asleep.
all in all, it was better that I hadn't needed to actualy sleep with her.
