Following my instinct across Gaia, I paused in the middle of a dark forest. Overhead, I could hear it rain, but the foilage was so thick that none of the rain was reaching me. Fighting an urge to soar into the sky--I had learned early on that rain on Gaia involved electrical storms and electricity and water elements do not mix well--I continued on.
Reaching a clearing where the rain was reaching the ground, I paused on the edge and unconsiously scented the air. Feeling someone grab my tail, I had no time to react as Chazu snapped it in half over his knee. "Cha--WHAAAA!"
Because I was in my anthro form--halfway between chibi human and dragon form--I threw my head back and roared in pain. Growling, I lowered my head and looked around for Chazu--only to have Koopa grab my hands. Paralyzed from the pain of my broken tail--the pain was coursing up and down my spinal cord rendering me unable to move--I watched helplessly as she split my bone claws as far apart from each other as they would go without causing pain.
Grinning sadistically, Koopa ripped the bone claws on my arms apart until they snapped. Pulling my broken hands to my chest, I threw my head back again and roared in pain. Although it hurt, I carefully folded my wings as flat against my body as I could manage. I did not want them broken with my tail and bone claws.
Knowing my body would slowly begin to heal itself, I trudged along. Every step was excruciating because it jarred my spine and my spine was attached to my broken tail. Every time I stumbled over forest debris, I was forced to use my broken hands to stop my fall. Yet, for every painful step I took, it was a step higher my anger went.
I knew it was not really Chazu or Koopa that broke my tail and hands--but Corrigan and Shalimar masqurading as my friends. All the same, someone was going to die--and I was determined it was going to be Corrigan. Coming to the edge of the edge of the forest, I paused--half of my senses screaming at me to turn back because I missed something important, the other half screaming at me to run.
"Now would be a perfect time for Nogard to come," I muttered while transforming into my chibi human form.
"You've broken our hands and our tail," Nogard said, suddenly beside me. "How the hell did you pull that off?"
"Never you mind," I said. "What do your senses tell you?"
"To go back for something and to move on."
"Same here. Which do you want?"
"Neither."
"Corrigan's got Shalimar on his side."
"Oh. Well in that case I'll go on and you go back to see what was missed."
"Too late," a pair of voices hissed from above.
"Tranquilizers," Nogard said, picking one out of her left shoulder and falling backwards.
Instead of replying, I looked about to see who had shot the darts but I passed out before finding my quarry.
