I was planning to share this favorite scary story of mine on a Friday the 13th...but seeing as not that many are coming in the near future...I thought, what the heck!
The Black Ribbon
A long time ago, a boy lived with his family in a nice house in a very nice neighborhood. Next to his home, a new family moved into the vacant home, bringing with them a very pretty daughter. One day, while playing in the yard, the boy noticed the girl sitting by herself on the porch of her house, watching him. Somewhat puzzled at being watched, the boy slowly came to the white picket fence that separated their two houses and stared back at her.
Not knowing what to do, he merely asked her a simple question. After noticing that all the times he had seen her, a black ribbon was always tied around her neck.
"Why do you wear a black ribbon around your neck?" He asked.
The girl smiled at him, completely disregarding his question, and slowly rose from her spot and walked over to the fence.
"I'll tell you if we become friends."

Several years went by and the boy and girl became the best of friends, the were almost inseperatable. But the girl still never answered his question, whiched caused him to wonder why such a happy girl wore a ribbon of such a depressing color around her neck.
"Why do you wear that black ribbon around your neck?" He asked again.
"I'll tell you if you'll br my boyfriend."
More years past and everyone pictured them as the perfect couple, but she still never answered his question.
One day he asked her again, "Why do you wear that black ribbon around your neck?"
Her smile grew at the question.
"I'll tell you if you marry me."
Time went on and the two were soon married. Time went on and they had two children and loved the thought of being with each other.
"Why do you wear that black ribbon around your neck?" He asked his wife. It had been several decades since he had seen her wearing that same ribbon and never once had he seen her take it off.
She gently patted her husbands hand and sighed. "I'll tell you when I'm dying."
In two years, the woman got deathly ill and was on her deathbed, her ever loyal husband at her side. She smiled at him and sat up.
"I'll show you why I wear this black ribbon around my neck" She said suddenly.
Her husband blinked in confusion, almost completely forgetting what she was talking about.
The old woman slowly undid the simple knot and took off the ribbon from around her neck...and her head fell off.
The End.

And to think I found that in a little kid's book >.< I believe the ribbon was originally green...but black is some much more mysterious >.> Maybe its this story that makes me were the black ribbon around my neck? Noep...its the fact that I lack decent string -__-;

it was originally a green ribbon,but i guess black suits the theme more.
