We're not in control of our responses.
By that, I mean our immediate responses. If someone says something mean to us, we don't control how that makes us feel. But we do control how we express that outwardly. We have some control over how we display what we're feeling.
We have barely any control over things like our feelings, our emotions, and our bias'.
I've known for a long time now some of my bias', but I don't know how to prevent them. When I see a couple driving on the road, and the girl is driving, I think less of the guy. What is it about that scenario that bothers me? It seems to be rooted in misogyny, but I don't know how to prevent it. I don't know how to stop those feelings from coming to me.
People say, "we must educate people about their bias'", but they don't have an answer for what to do afterwards.
I try to prevent myself from acting on my bias', but that doesn't mean I stopped feeling them.
