So there's a fine line between being confident and being self-absorbed, obviously.
People who severely lack confidence and look for every opportunity to put themselves down, even when they do things marvelously, make me upset. Not RAHHHH upset, but just ... unhappy that they can't see what others do. That they can't see their own abilities for what they are!
Then there are the people who cross that line between having self-confidence and being in your own little I-am-great bubble.
There are two types:
1. People who are genuinely good at what they're so proud of, or are actually what they say they are. Like people who are pretty and know it. At least they have what they think makes 'em hot hot heat s**t.
2. People who ... I can't even begin to explain it. Are the complete opposite of above. Don't have what they claim to, and aren't what they claim to be. These people piss me off the most.
Okay, so, what's the big deal?
People who are either of the above, because they think they're better than everyone else. Even if they're better than some people at some things. The best people aren't boastful; they're humble. You can never be perfect at something, even if you're a master of some craft. Always, always room for practice because the world is always changing.
Just ... goddamnit, give credit where credit is due, you sons of bitches. Acknowledge talent. You are not God, you are not the best human being to trod upon this earth, especially if you're a teenager. Hot damn.
Of course, I have to practice what I preach and no one wants to admit that someone can one-up them. I don't know everything in the universe, but this bothers me on and off about people. I won't name names, because some people are here on Gaia in the flesh, and I don't want to offend anybody. Just ... take a good step back and look at yourself sometime soon, and see what needs changing. Please. I know I did that today and it was sort of odd, but it was healing.
I love you all, and here's a llama to celebrate.
