He kneeled down and laced his boots. They were made out of a worn brown leather. They were steel-toed and trustworthy. He was comforted by the stability they provided.
He was wearing a white tshirt that framed his muscular build. His arms were covered with tattoos. They were colored tattoos that gave his arm a sleeve of dragons, demons, and knives. His head was shaved and his face was not. A scar lined his cheekbone on the left side of his face.
He walked on the sidewalk with purpose. The heel of his boots hit the concrete with a thud. He puffed out his chest and wore a disinterested face. The ends of his jeans frayed at the hem.
In a parking lot that lead to the road, a woman was sitting in her car. It was a black suburban. The woman had her head turned away from him. She was facing a hooded man.
As he walked down the sidewalk, he could see the hooded man. The hooded man had a weapon pointed at the woman. He could hear the woman talk, in a quiet voice.
"Please."
He stopped and looked over at them; he didn't turn his torso. His breathing heavied.
The hooded man jolted forward and the woman winced.
He turned his foot and pointed it at them. He lowered his eyebrows. He needed to approach them.
He takes a step towards them and his heart is racing. His legs were heavy and his breathing increased.
The hooded man heard the step and turned to look at him. The hooded man spoke, hoarse and unforgiving, "Piss off, you ********."
He swallowed and blinked slowly. He tried to relax. "You don't have to do this." he said with a tired voice.
The hooded man stepped forward. "You wanna die?"
He stood there for a moment. His legs were trembling, his arms were heavy. He tried to make a fist.
"I'll call the police." he said weakly.
"You'll what!?" the hooded man yelled.
A car pulled up to the stop light next to them. He wondered if the hooded man could see his body shake.
The car pulled around the corner next to them. It had a light fixture on top and read "POLICE" on the side. He heard a window roll down and someone say, "Is everything alright here?"
The hooded man gasped and fled.
He exhaled a breath he had been holding and swallowed. He closed his eyes and tried to relax. His legs were still trembling.
