Yesterday evening as I sat lazily at my computer, wondering what the hell to do, I recieved a call. This call changed my life. It was one of those phone survey. Usually I turn those down, but I was bored, so I decided to humor it and kill a few minutes. They were all yes or no questions (1= yes, 2=no). It was a recording.
"This is a hypothetical questionare about the destruction of the world.
Question One. If your planet Earth were to be destroyed by an alien force far superior in mind, technology and basically all aspects of life, would you want to survive to take revenge?"
I wondered what in the world kind of a survey this was. I pressed one. My first mistake.
"Question Two. Would you take up command of a space ship you've never seen or heard of to get this revenge?"
Again, the thought of "What the hell?" came to mind. Just to see where it was going, I pressed one again. My second mistake.
"Question Three. Would you continue to command even if the army consisted of all of your friends and you knew that some of them would die while waging the war?"
My third and final mistake was pressing that little one key on my phone.
"Thankyou."
The other end hung up, leaving me more than confused. Exactly one hour later, it happened. Earth was destroyed and I was taken aboard The Situation. This morning, I was given the rank of Commander and Chief. I discovered later that my second in command is to be Luis Morrale: a man I am going to have much difficulty handing orders to. I have grown more than fond of him over the past couple of years that I have known him.
As far as today and yesterday is concerned, that is all for now.
