* And I see the Internet whining about Moffat finally deciding to include a gay character has commenced. I mean after all, TV is choc full of gay characters and there are hardly any straight ones right? Privileged assholes.
Now some of my thoughts on the episode a a whole. I really don't like baby plots even with the Schrodinger's baby aspect, as it's hard to do anything new with it. I did like the creepy orphanage from hell with the doomed caretaker and the cuts and words on the wall. I am alarmed that the Doctor just blithely turned the entire human race into mass murderers on an epic scale. It feels really out of character, especially with the complete lack of sorrow. Yes, I get he had to kill them. Yes, I get that it's clever. It's just... slimey and no one called him on it. I know it's stupid, but I keep thinking there ought to be a Sarah Jane to call him on things like this. I still really hate the over arching plot. I can think of a whole lot explanations for the child and what's going on with her that don't fit the obvious explanation, but I am not holding my breath for any of the cooler explanations. I expect to be pissed off.
For the record, I'm still old school Who. I like River just fine, but I don't approve of Time lord/companion romance. It's like combining ***** and bestiality. I make an exception for Jack and now Rory, as they are old enough that it doesn't feel like cradle robbing. If River turns out to be a Time Lord, I'd be okay with tat also. It doesn't mean I don't like the character, it just means that watching any sort of PDA grosses me out. Oddly, I'm fine with the flirting, as it makes the dynamic more equal. Maynbe it helps me accept River as a competent TARDIS driver because I grew up with Nyssa and Adric.
